According to him, in response to the new EU regulations, the new iPhone will be designed with a stainless steel battery case in the future. The first model to feature this design is expected to be the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
The benefits of using a stainless steel battery case are clear, making the iPhone 16 Pro Max's battery stronger, significantly more resistant to corrosion, and improving heat dissipation. At the same time, it can meet the new EU regulation that "batteries must be easily disassembled and replaced".
However, it should be noted that Apple's response plan is not like early mobile phones, which can directly open the back cover and remove the battery. Rather, it refers to the stainless steel battery case, combined with a new "electrically induced adhesive detachment" technology, to reduce the difficulty of removing the iPhone battery.
In other words, the iPhone 16 Pro Max itself is still an all-in-one design, but it is easier for users to remove/replace the battery by themselves. And Apple has also launched a "self-service repair service", which provides original iPhone parts and professional repair tools.
At the same time, the new battery process is also expected to increase the battery energy density of the new iPhone, which is expected to increase by 5-10%. The increased energy density of the battery means that it can provide better range at the same volume, or it can reduce the size of the battery with the same range.
The iPhone 16 Pro Max may have chosen to increase battery life, as it was previously revealed that the battery capacity of the device is 4676mAh, which is 5% higher than the previous generation. And fast charging is also expected to be upgraded, or support for 40W wired charging and 20W MagSafe magnetic charging.
In addition, there is a report revealing the screen information of the new iPhone. According to the latest news from Korean media ETNews, Samsung will provide OLED panels for all four models of the iPhone 16 series, but only Pro and Pro Max can use the advanced "M14" technology.
As for the iPhone 16 Standard and Plus, it is likely that the M12 panel from the previous generation will continue to be used as a way to reduce production costs. Regarding the screen, there were previous leaks showing that the size of these two models is still 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches, and they still do not support high brushes.
The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will feature larger 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch screens, which are 0.2 inches more than their predecessors. At the same time, the screen black edge will also become narrower, expected to be only 1.2mm and 1.15mm, which may be the phone with the narrowest bezel this year.
Overall, the gap between this year's iPhone 16 Pro series models and the regular models has widened a little more, and the new battery technology and new screen may both be exclusive upgrades to the Pro.
