The Beijing Municipal Medical Security Bureau announced that from July 1, on the Meituan and JD.com drug purchase platforms, Beijing insured persons can use their personal medical insurance accounts to purchase over-the-counter (OTC) drugs online at 300 designated retail pharmacies under medical insurance. The cost of the drug is paid by the personal account of the medical insurance, and the delivery fee and packaging fee are paid by the individual. After placing an order online, the drug purchase platform will deliver the drug immediately. Online drug purchase also supports the mutual aid use of medical insurance personal accounts among family members who have been registered for medical insurance in Beijing. At present, there are 300 designated retail pharmacies covering all 16 administrative districts and economic development zones in Beijing.
The Beijing Municipal Medical Security Bureau said that it will continue to promote the work related to online drug purchase and medical insurance payment, and continue to increase the number of designated retail pharmacies for online payment of non-prescription drugs, covering a wider range of regions, so that more insured people can enjoy convenient and efficient medical insurance services. At the same time, we will continue to strengthen the supervision of the use of medical insurance funds in designated retail pharmacies, monitor drug prices in pharmacies, and ensure the safe and efficient operation of medical insurance funds.
