On July 2, Honor officially announced that it will hold a Magic flagship new product launch conference on July 12, launching the MagicPad 2 tablet (12.3 inches), the MagicBook Art 14 laptop, and two folding screen flagships - Magic V3 and Magic Vs3.
The previous generation of the Honor Magic V2 has an unfolded thickness of 9.9mm, a folding thickness of 4.7mm, and a weight of 231 grams, which is comparable to the epoch-making thin and light design of a straight flagship, allowing folding screen mobile phones to enter the "millimeter era".
As a new product, the Honor Magic V3 will continue this main selling point. At MWC 2024 Shanghai Mobile World Congress, Honor CEO Zhao Ming said that the Honor Magic V3 will challenge "a new height of folding screen thinness and lightness". This also means that the thickness of the Magic V3 will once again set a record for the thinness and lightness of the folding screen.
In terms of the healthy use of smart terminals, Honor will also bring technological breakthroughs. The Honor Magic V3 will debut AI defocus eye protection technology, which simulates the optical effect of the defocus lens through artificial intelligence algorithms and processes the display content on the screen in real time. Combining device-side AI with the screen, the mobile phone screen can be transformed into a "defocus lens" according to the user's eye environment and habits, and AI eye protection and hardware eye protection are combined.
In terms of configuration, the Honor Magic V3 will be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen3 chip, support for 5G-A (5.5G) networks, as well as satellite calling (there is a satellite communication version), a built-in large-capacity battery, and support for 66W fast charging.
The Honor Magic Vs3 is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen2 chip, and the configuration is slightly inferior to the Magic V3 in other aspects.
The previous generation product, the Honor Magic V2, was released on July 12, 2023, with a starting price of 8999 yuan (16+256G). 7.92-inch 2344x2156 pixel inner screen, 6.43-inch 2376x1060 pixel outer screen, both internal and external screens support 1-120Hz LTPO adaptive dynamic refresh rate, 3840Hz UHF PWM dimming, and the screen surface is also covered with a second-generation nano-glass-ceramic cover plate that is 10 times more resistant to falls.
It is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen2 leading version chip, a 50-million-pixel wide-angle main camera + 50-million-pixel ultra-wide-angle + 20-million-pixel telephoto lens on the rear, a 16-million-pixel camera on the front, and a 5000mAh battery + 66W fast charging.
The Honor Magic Vs2 will be released on October 12, 2023, with a starting price of 6999 yuan (12+256G). Equipped with Snapdragon 8+ chip, 7.92-inch inner screen, 6.43-inch outer screen, both internal and external screens support 3840Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. Rear 50 million pixel wide-angle main camera + 12 million pixel ultra wide angle + 20 million pixel telephoto lens, front 16 million pixel camera, 5000mAh battery + 66W fast charging.
If the Magic V3 and Magic Vs3 can achieve "increase the volume without increasing the price", it is expected to take over the baton of Magic V2/Vs2 and become Honor's folding screen explosion model this year.
According to the data, in the first quarter of 2024, Honor has achieved rapid growth in the folding screen mobile phone market, with shipments soaring by 460% year-on-year, and its market share has increased from 3% in the first quarter of 2023 to 12%, becoming the world's third largest folding screen mobile phone manufacturer after Huawei and Samsung.
