As the name suggests, hardware testing is the testing of hardware products, a good product wants to circulate to the market normally for sale, then it is necessary to test the desired product before selling, otherwise the product will eventually circulate smoothly to the market, and there will be various problems, such as the product quality problems of a certain model or batch of cars that are often seen, and the unreasonable product design leads to a large number of recalls.

Therefore, hardware testing is an important check in the product development process to ensure that the final product is in a relatively perfect state.

So what exactly is this hardware test for? Next, we will analyze the relevant knowledge content of hardware testing in detail in several issues.

The previous "Hardware Test of Hardware (II)" introduced the port interface test, power supply voltage test and ripple test in the PCBA board level test. Next, we will continue to introduce other test items in PCBA board level testing, and there are many test items for electrical performance.

c. DC-DC efficiency

An electronic hardware product must have a power supply, and this power management will be responsible for supplying power to many units on the circuit board, so the DC-DC conversion efficiency required to be very high. The specific test can use an oscilloscope to observe the voltage of the corresponding power supply circuit and observe the amplitude change of the voltage, which also needs to be rigorously tested. If the DC-DC efficiency is too low, it will cause malfunction when powering chips that require high accuracy.

d. Power Timing

Timing is to see who comes first and who comes after, or the rise and fall time of a power supply, in the actual test, it is necessary to use an oscilloscope that supports multi-channel display, it can intuitively see the sequence of several power supply signals, the rise and fall time, which can help hardware test engineers quickly and intuitively see its timing changes, so as to find abnormalities in advance, otherwise if it is not in line with the expected waveform, the circuit board may have hidden dangers, failures or failures of some components.

e. Current power consumption test

The current power consumption test will be tested in the PCBA board level test and the whole machine test, and in the PCBA board level test, it is mainly to test the power consumption test of each branch of the chip and the power consumption of the whole circuit board when it is working normally and standby.

f. Protection Testing

For example, common power lightning protection devices, interface signal protection devices, these devices include varistors, fuses, suppression diodes, EMI filters, common mode inductors, isolation transformers, ESD (TVS tubes), etc., test the actual protection effect of these devices, the protection critical value of the device and so on.
