Masters of art have gained insight into the world with different eyes, created many masterpieces, and written countless beautiful chapters for human civilization. Focusing on the timeless mark that the great masters have left on the collective civilization of mankind, Montblanc has launched the Montblanc Masters of Art Collection, which celebrates the inexhaustible pursuit of self-expression by great artists who transcend stereotypes. As a brand rooted in exceptional craftsmanship and savoir-faire, Montblanc celebrates the beauty of art and transforms it into a masterpiece of extraordinary charm. Following a tribute to the pioneering work of the Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh, the Montblanc Masters Limited Edition pays homage to the Austrian painter Gustav Klimt. One of the most important artists of Art Nouveau and Symbolism, Klimt was extremely creative and visionary, producing a large number of stylistic masterpieces with avant-garde gestures.

The famous Austrian painter Gustav Klimt (born July 14, 1862, died February 6, 1918) was a representative figure of symbolism, whose distinctive artistic style showed a new decorative aesthetic, and his influence radiated from Austria-Hungary to Europe and the whole world. At the age of 35, Gustav Klimt turned his vision beyond traditional art forms and founded a new avant-garde artist organization, the Vienna Secession, which led to a radical change in artistic style. As a pioneer of the avant-garde, Klimt rebelled against the old ideas in art and society, and constantly tried new and different ways of expressing themselves. Combining the authentic representation of classicism, the decorative of symbolism, and the abstraction of expressionism, his original artistic style culminated in his imaginative large-format portraits of women, including many important gold leaf paintings such as The Kiss, and abstract frescoes such as the Beethoven Frieze and the Stoclet Frieze.

As with each piece in the Masters Collection, the new Montblanc Masters of Art collection pays homage to Gustav Klimt's limited edition writing instruments and features the golden ratio of the cap and barrel, a timeless aesthetic principle that has been followed in many of the masterpieces of art. The collection consists of five limited editions, each with key design details inspired by Klimt's artistry and creative vision. The overall shape of the pen is inspired by the Vienna Secession movement. The pen ring has a "multi-faceted" design, symbolizing the facet of the wall of the Secession building. The design at the end of the barrel is inspired by the dome of the Secession exhibition hall building in Vienna, while the green spar is reminiscent of the iconic green cover of the Secession magazine Ver Sacrum.

The new Montblanc Masters Artistry pays homage to Gustav Klimt's limited edition writing instruments, with a specially designed clip inspired by Gustav Klimt's painting Pallas Athene, with slightly curved lines that extend to three spirals, echoing the decoration on the metal frame that Klimt created exclusively for the painting. The spiral ornament is a typical motif on Mycenaean gold ornaments, referring to the Greek origin of Athena. The inscription "GK" on each writing instrument reproduces Gustav Klimt's signature on the page of the fourteenth issue of the Vienna Secession catalogue, published in 1902.

The new Montblanc Masters of Art collection pays homage to Gustav Klimt's limited edition of 161 writing instruments (161 pieces worldwide) and is inspired by the golden ratio – the ideal depiction φ ratio of 1.618 (Phi) for aesthetic harmony. The writing instrument is designed to pay homage to Gustav Klimt's famous painting The Kiss and his love of oriental art and culture. In Klimt's masterpiece "The Kiss", a pair of lovers kiss affectionately, and through the embracing figures transformed by decorative geometric figures, strong emotions are about to emerge. This wonderful moment is condensed on the canvas, and time and space are devoid of meaning. This masterpiece also showcases Klimt's passion for Oriental art, as well as his admiration for decorative arts, colour and harmonious curves. The engraving on the end of the 18-carat rose gold pen and the three-dimensional engraving on the upper part of the 925 silver cap are inspired by the decorative motifs found in The Kiss. A couple of lovers indulging in a passionate kiss is the subject of Klimt's painting, which is also subtly carved into the lower part of the cap.

In the same way that the lovers in The Kiss are surrounded by golden light, the new Montblanc Masters of Art tribute to Gustav Klimt's limited edition (161 pieces worldwide) features a shimmering gold lacquer finish made with oriental lacquer and hand-applied gold leaf. The body of the pen is made of 925 silver and 18K gold, and the end of the pen is inlaid with a green cabochon-cut jade, which is embellished with spring vitality. Montblanc's six-pointed white star logo made of mother-of-pearl is set on top of the cap in 18-carat rose gold. The hand-polished 18-carat gold nib is adorned with curved lines and spiral Art Deco motifs, while the symbol "φ", representing the golden ratio, is engraved in the center, symbolizing the infinite non-cyclic decimal number of 1.61, a nod to this aesthetic code.
