Some time ago, we talked to you about niconico, a barrage website that has been set back for 17 years because of the Internet crackdown.
At that time, Station N suffered a large-scale cyber attack due to KADOKAWA Co., Ltd., and the official had to shut down the server urgently in order to protect the server data. To compensate for the audience, they created a website called "Niconico Anime" that rotated popular videos from 2007 on N sites.
These were stories from more than half a month ago. After that, although Station N has recovered to a certain extent, some functional sections, such as niconico still paintings that publish comics, are still unavailable.
And the reason, in the final analysis, is that Kadokawa Co., Ltd., which is commonly known as Kadokawa, has not been able to get rid of the blackmail and harassment of hackers.

The hackers started downloading Kadokawa's data on June 5, and Kadokawa's IT part discovered the problem, but it never solved the problem, which directly led to the mass paralysis of Station N on June 8.
After that, the hacker blackmailed Kurita Suitaka, the representative of Station N, saying that he had downloaded 1.5T data including Kadokawa's business contacts and user information, and demanded a ransom. Without deliberation from the board of directors, Kadokawa paid $2.98 million (about 21.66 million yuan) of bitcoin to the hackers.
After paying the ransom, the hackers did not choose to disappear and added a further $8.25 million to the ransom. Kurita rejected the hackers, citing the inability to pay more money without alarming the board, and then issued an announcement on June 14 describing what happened.
The hackers gave Kadokawa an "ultimatum" on June 17, demanding that a ransom be paid at the end of the month, otherwise the data would be made public, but Kadokawa, who had been blackmailed once, apparently had a long memory and "did not comment" on all relevant reports.
Until late last night, Russian hackers, who couldn't wait for the ransom, finally started uploading information stolen from Kadokawa.
It includes the personal information and remuneration of the official live broadcast performers of Station N; Multi-play country operation, N higher school student personal information; and the personal information of some employees of the multi-play country.
After the information leaked, Kadokawa issued an apology letter for the data breach, but the stock price still fell significantly.
After the leak spread to China, some netizens summed up the gimmick of "unboxing carnival". Fortunately, the leaked information does not contain key user information, and only a small number of people who have business ties with Kadokawa are affected by the opening of the box.
The impact is so subtle that it's hard to say "good" or "bad" directly. For example, after the information spread to China, many people's attention was on the performance fees of Japanese artists, ridiculing that their own launch fees turned out to be so cheap.
And some Vtubers who were leaked information, after claiming the leaked information on their social accounts, instead used the topic to gain fans.
There are also reports that the leak did not contain key information, so was it a factional war within Kadokawa that directly led to the accident?
