It is understood that several generations of embroidery artists have worked hard to discover and sort out the embroidery skills of the Song Dynasty, summed up 36 kinds of embroidery needles, integrated embroidery skills with painting art, greatly enhanced the artistic appeal of embroidery works, and made the ancient Bian embroidery full of vitality. In 2007, Bian embroidery was included in the first batch of intangible cultural heritage list of Henan Province, and in 2008, it was selected into the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.

"In 1958, after the first generation of Bianxiu people made the first volume of "Qingming Riverside Picture", in the subsequent inheritance, we integrated the cultivation of painting to enhance its artistic height, and "Qingming Riverside Picture" is our representative work of Bianxiu." Miao Wei began to learn embroidery at the age of 6 and painted at the age of 8. In recent years, she has tried to integrate Bian embroidery into her life, and has produced daily necessities with Bian embroidery elements such as fans and embroidery bags, which also pursue the elegance of Song Dynasty paintings.

Not only that, Miao Wei also combined Bian embroidery with heavy color painting to create batches of new works, which gave Bian embroidery a new lease of life again.

"This is a series of works of Bian embroidery, with a total of 12 pieces. Heavy color painting is a flat shape, and the addition of silk threads can restore its texture while becoming three-dimensional. For example, the headdress of this work is made of imitation gold silk thread, which reflects different textures through different stitches, which is different from the traditional old Bian embroidery. Miao Wei said.

What is the most critical part of making an embroidery work? Miao Wei told reporters, "First of all, we must highlight the regional characteristics of Bian embroidery, highlight the connotation of Song culture, the theme is very important, and at the same time, there must be a reflection of skills, both of which are indispensable." If there are no regional characteristics, the whole country is a homogeneous phenomenon. Therefore, we must use our hearts to interpret our feelings in our works. ”

"We are in Kaifeng Vocational College to declare the discipline of Bianxiu, and we have opened a Bianxiu club in the school, and set up an elective course for Bianxiu, which has been a semester. The involvement of this school made me see the future of Bianxiu. Miao Wei told reporters that after the successful declaration of the embroidery discipline, she will shift the focus of research to the school, to teach students, and bring out a group of knowledgeable, cultured, thoughtful, and accomplished "embroidery girls".
