The haze of the "Mannheim case" has not yet dissipated, and there is another knife attack in Germany! In the Bavarian town of Lauf am Pegnitz, a man reportedly attacked a federal police officer on duty at a train station with a knife. The attacker died after being shot by police. According to the information, the man was a 34-year-old Iranian.

Lauf am Pegnitz, a town of less than 30,000 people northeast of Nuremberg, was shattered by an attack last Sunday (30 June).

The 34-year-old first attacked a police car parked at the train station and then attacked the police with a knife, local police said. Despite the immediate first aid measures taken by the police and emergency services, the man died of serious injuries later that day.

According to the source, the specific time of the attack occurred around 4:45 p.m. When a male and female police officer arrived at the scene, the man insulted and provoked the two officers before attempting to stab the police officer with a knife. The police first used pepper spray and fired warning shots at the man, and only shot him when these tactics failed.

Fortunately, no police officers were injured in the incident.

Video taken by a witness shows three police officers surrounding a man lying on the ground not far from the station, with an officer pointing a weapon at the lying man. A large number of police cars and rescuers can also be seen rushing to the crime scene with flashing lights on the video.

Although the damage caused by this case is not large, it has caused quite a stir in German public opinion.

This is because, in the past month, there have been a number of knife attacks in Germany. The most notorious case was the May 31 case in Mannheim, in which an Afghan attacked the stall of an anti-Islamist group in a local bazaar, injuring several people, including a policeman who died of his wounds.

The difference with the "Mannheim case" is that the murderer in this case directly targeted the police. At present, it is not known why the man was so malicious towards the German police. Is there a motive behind it to imitate the "Mannheim case"?

It is worth noting that, unlike many such reports that deliberately avoid talking about or downplay the identity of the suspect, many German media outlets reported on the case by prominently referring to the perpetrator as an "Iranian" in the headline. There are reports that the man is on a "residence visa".
