The 24th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will be held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, on the 3rd and 4th of this month.
The Chinese side attaches great importance to this and has already started the relevant preparatory work in an all-round way. In addition, China's top leaders have already traveled to Kazakhstan, and the SCO summit will also take the opportunity of the Chinese leadership to pay state visits to two Central Asian countries, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
At the same time, this is also the fifth visit of a Chinese leader to Kazakhstan, China and Kazakhstan are not only close neighbors separated by a strip of water, Kazakhstan is also an important partner country along China's "Belt and Road", and the two countries are also working together to build a "golden 30 years" of China-Kazakhstan relations.
The Kazakh side also attaches great importance to the arrival of the Chinese side. In addition to the deep friendship between the two countries themselves, China is also Kazakhstan's main trade and investment partner, and bilateral trade between the two countries has increased tenfold in the past 30 years, reaching a record 41 billion US dollars last year.
The visit of the Chinese leader to Kazakhstan will also push the relations between the two countries to a higher level. Of course, since the Central Asian countries also play a very important role in the SCO, China has also been vigorously developing relations with the Central Asian countries in recent years, and last year it held the first China-Central Asia Summit in Xi'an.
However, the highlight of the event was the SCO summit, which was not the only one that came to China. According to Russian presidential aide Ushakov, Putin will also personally go to Astana this time to attend the SCO summit, during which he also plans to hold meetings with leaders of other countries.
Moreover, Ushakov also stressed that the SCO is a very important and influential organization for Russia. You must know that under the condition that Western countries continue to increase their encirclement of Russia, the number of international conferences Putin has also dropped sharply in the past two years, but Putin has been quite enthusiastic about international organization meetings led by China.
Of course, this also shows that Russia's current policy is gradually tilting eastward. However, the SCO is even more special to Russia, because Russia is also one of the initiators, and it is one of the few organizations in the Asia-Pacific region involved in security cooperation, under which the SCO members will only be more closely linked and cooperative.
At the same time, in the current complex and volatile international situation, it is also conducive to all countries to work together to deal with external challenges and threats. Recently, the SCO Secretariat also reported that Belarus, Russia's "fraternal state", will soon become the 10th member of the SCO.
Therefore, Putin is also full of expectations for this SCO summit. Although the leaders of China and Russia will attend the SCO summit this time, the Indian side is ready to engage in "special". It is reported that a few days ago, there was news from India that Modi is unlikely to attend the SCO summit this time, but may send other representatives to participate in place of Modi.
And this is not the first time that India has "made a special move", and India did not send its foreign minister to attend the BRICS foreign ministers' summit held last month. Moreover, at last year's SCO summit, India still adopted an online approach as the host country, and even India has not signed the "SCO Economic Development Strategy to 2030", but Modi immediately went to Italy to participate in the G7 summit after being renewed.
From this aspect, it is enough to see that India does not attach much importance to cooperation among Asia-Pacific countries, especially international organizations led by China, and India has never shown a very positive attitude. First, because India has always regarded China as its biggest competitor, it is difficult for India to be the focus of international organizations dominated by China.
Second, in order to curry favor with Western countries, India will not get too close to China and other countries. After all, India's strategy has always been to maneuver back and forth between the East and the West, wanting to take advantage of the benefits of both sides. Although any country has a diplomatic choice, India's typical mentality of wanting to get something in return is absolutely wrong.
Blindly playing clever is likely to end India empty-handed.
