In the autumn of 1952, the New Branch of the Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau suddenly received a sealed and registered report letter from the Ministry of Public Security, which read:
"I would like to report to the government that a few years ago, the 'Ming Zen Master' who appeared in the temple in the northwest corner of Beijing was actually a traitor and spy who recognized the thief as his father."
"In the sixteenth year of the Republic of China, it was he who led the military and police to search the Soviet Embassy, causing dozens of Li Dazhao and martyrs to be hanged and martyred...... It is hoped that the government will quickly find clues and make arrests so as to uphold the law of the country. ”
The three words "Li Dazhao" appear in it eye-catching and dazzling, which makes people feel cold and resentful.
Looking at the yellowed photo album, the wheels of history are rolling forward, and the smoke of war fills the earth, it is a time of blood and tears.
After Mr. Li Dazhao was arrested and imprisoned, Li Dazhao did not compromise in the face of the rusty gallows and the ruthless torture police.
In "Memories of My Father Li Dazhao", the eldest daughter Li Xinghua described:
"When the torture was carried out, the enemy tortured other revolutionary martyrs for 20 minutes, but deliberately prolonged the torture of my father and tortured him to extract a confession for 40 minutes."
Despite this, Li Dazhao did not reveal half of our party's secrets.
After all the fingernails were removed, he used his bloody hands to write his masterpiece "Self-Statement in Prison":
"Zhao Zishu issued and accepted the letter, that is, he was determined to work hard for the cause of national liberation, practice what he believed, and practice what he knew."
Dressed in a cotton robe and with a solemn demeanor, this is the last photograph of him before his death, which was taken for him by the enemy with a camera before he ascended to the gallows.
Recalling the situation when he received the task at that time, Lu Quanfa, a retired policeman from the Xincheng Public Security Bureau, said:
"When I returned to the office after dinner that day, Chief Wang Tianjie was already waiting here and handed me the letter of accusation."
He was only nineteen years old that year, and he was still a fledgling young man. After reading the letter, Lu Quanfa clenched his fists indignantly, then stood up and saluted, and said to the leader categorically:
"Guaranteed to get the job done."
Since the letter mentions "Ming Zen Master", it should naturally be used as a breakthrough in the case.
Lu Quanfa and his colleagues began to disassemble the clues in the letter, and finally sorted out the original idea of solving the case:
Ming Zen Master, named Lei Hengcheng, is now hiding in the area of the Shanghai Horse Racing Hall, on weekdays to "divination" for a living, mouth inlaid with gold teeth, often wearing a gold watch, it is said that it is also the former Qing Emperor reward.
So, investigators Lu Quanfa, Xia Xianjun and Pan Cheng began to investigate the case.
They first searched through the information at the household registration office, but they couldn't find a person named "Lei Hengcheng" after searching. The Hukou Police also said that they had no impression of the person.
However, the trip was not without its rewards.
They paid attention to a man named Zhao Zhi'an in the household register, who had little relevant introduction, but his age matched that of "Lei Hengcheng", and the professional experience of "divination" was even more eye-catching.
Lu Quanfa decided to investigate this person, and finally learned from the words of the police and the neighbors that this person also seemed to call himself "Zen Master Ming", and he was withdrawn and stayed at home on weekdays.

Capture the real murderer Lei Hengcheng
At noon the next day, Lu Quanfa transformed himself into a foreigner, wearing a gray robe and cloth shoes on both sides, knocking on the door of the "Ming Zen Master".
It was an old lady who opened the door, and when the other party saw that it was a strange young man, he immediately cast a suspicious and wary look.
Lu Quanfa explained his intention of "looking for Mr. Fortune Telling", but the old lady didn't say much and guided him to walk in the door.
I saw an old man lying on a wooden chair, caressing his goatee, and asking with a smile:
"What is Double Luck? One is financial luck, and the other is official luck. Young man, are you here for fortune telling? Or are you here to ask for a signature? ”
Lu Quanfa behaved respectfully and replied:
"I just came to Shanghai from my hometown to work hard, and I want to calculate my future. I heard that Mr. fortune-telling is very accurate, so I came to visit. ”
The compliment made the old man laugh, and the iconic gold teeth were revealed. Immediately calculate the hexagram for him.
In fact, in the process of divination, Lu Quanfa had already noticed the gold watch bracelet looming around his neck, but how to determine that the gold watch was a gift from the former Qing emperor?
The letter of complaint mentions that the back of the watch is engraved with the emperor's head.

That night, they arrested Lei Hengcheng, but due to the timely action, the murderer did not have the slightest chance to react, and was subsequently arrested.
"We also searched his diploma from the Japan Military Police Institute, the license of the Xuantong Army Police Division, the Japanese pseudo-appointment certificate and other identification certificates, and the Japanese pseudo-second-class medal, the German sabre, and many hanging watches on the spot."
The murderer could not have imagined that these "honors" that were once cherished by him turned out to be bloody and ironclad evidence of his crimes.

After being arrested, Lei Hengcheng confessed to the heinous crimes he had committed.
Subsequently, the East China Ministry of Public Security instructed:
"Cha Lei committed Hengcheng as a big traitor, and indeed one of the masterminds of more than 10 comrades including Li Dazhao, the leader of our party, and recommended that he be sentenced to death and executed immediately."
But before Lei Hengcheng was executed, he suddenly made a request:
"I hope I don't hit myself in the head, I want to leave a whole corpse."
Although he had done many things that hurt nature and reason, and killed countless heroes and martyrs, the police finally respected his idea and agreed to his request.
On April 26, 1953, Lei Hengcheng was executed. But even if the murderer is punished, our revolutionary martyrs will never come back.
