Why is Huoxiang Zhengqi Water + Cephalosporin poisoned?
Huoxiang Zhengqi water usually contains 40%-50% alcohol, and when these alcohols enter the human body, they are converted into acetaldehyde by ethanol dehydrogenase. Because cephalosporins inhibit the activity of acetaldehyde dehydrogenase, acetaldehyde cannot continue to be degraded, resulting in a large accumulation in the body, and a disulfiram-like toxic reaction occurs.

This symptom usually occurs within 5 minutes to 1 hour of the combination of the two drugs. Patients may experience facial flushing, headache, nausea, vomiting, palpitations, and blood pressure drops, as well as chest tightness, chest pain, shortness of breath, dyspnea, shock, and even death.
Therefore, cephalosporins should not be taken within 7 days after taking Huoxiang Zhengqi Water.
The consumption of Huoxiang Zhengqi water is contraindicated
