If you want to take good photos, the shutter speed setting is the most important thing in photography. It allows you to see frozen time through the camera lens, turning the moment into eternity.
Today, I'm going to share with you the shutter speed settings for the following nine types of shooting situations to help you cope with various shooting scenarios.
One: Landscape photography
1/30~1/125 seconds
Beginner photography will definitely go to shoot scenery films, inside and outside the community, a corner of the city slowly turns around the north and south of the river, exotic plateau, then when shooting a good scenery, it is recommended to use a tripod to ensure the stability of the camera as much as possible.
The camera shutter can be set to be slowed down to less than 1/125th of a second to 1/30th of a second or lower, and a low shutter speed can achieve some dynamic effects in the frame.
When using the safety shutter speed below the speed must have a tripod or hold the camera in place to avoid blurring the picture, and also pay attention to turning off the lens stabilization function, preferably with a shutter release cable, remote control and other shutter control tools.
2. Humanities/Documentary
1/125~1/500 sec
This type of photography is inseparable from indoor and outdoor, street photography, parties, vehicles, people, pedestrians, almost all photographic elements of the object will move, we can set the shutter speed according to the light of the scene and the situation of the object, generally set the speed of the camera between 1/125~1/500 seconds.
Three: festive fireworks
1 second ~ 6 seconds
When fireworks start to be fired, use the shutter release to control the exposure time. After observing for about a minute, you can clearly catch the time point from the launch of the fireworks to the entire explosion. A second or two before the expected burst opens, press the shutter, then mentally count the exposure seconds before releasing the shutter.
Four: Exercise
1/500~1/2000 sec.
The speed of the subject's movement is from low to high, and the shutter speed setting is correspondingly low to high; The distance of the subject determines the shutter speed setting, from low to high; Depending on the type of movement, you need to accumulate your ability to judge the scene and set the specific speed of shooting accordingly in order to shoot clear and solid images.
Five: Flowing water
A few seconds ~ 1/60 seconds
Shoot rain: If you want to shoot the picture of raindrops, it takes 1/45~1/60 seconds, the shutter speed can be set to 1/60 second, according to the principle of "slow shutter, long rain, fast shutter, short rain," you can set different speeds to shoot a few more shots;
Shoot the waterfall: If you want to shoot the right picture of the waterfall flow, you need a shutter speed of 1 second ~ 2 seconds;
Photograph the surface of a stream, river, or lake: For a silky soft effect, you need to set the shutter speed to 5 seconds or slower; For a sense of flow, set the shutter speed between 1/2 second ~ 6 seconds.
Six: Cosmic Star Orbit
20 minutes ~ hours
The principle of shooting star trajectories is to use the rotation of the earth, the stars are relatively stationary, and the shutter speed is set to more than 20 minutes or even hours (of course, there are multiple exposures, superimposition and other post-production software methods to achieve).
Seven: Starry sky interstellar
15 seconds ~ 30 seconds
The key to shooting starry sky interstellar is not to use too low shutter speed, more than 30 seconds will make your starry sky blurry due to the rotation of the earth, if you want to shoot bright and clear starry sky, you need to set the camera's ISO to a higher parameter
Eight: Floating people
1/15 sec. ~ 1/60 sec
For the effect of shooting the flow of people, cars, and objects, the shutter speed is set between 1/15 second ~ 1/60 second, and by continuously maintaining the focus of the subject to be tracked, the moving subject is clear, and the still object is blurred.
Nine: Flying birds
1/1500 sec. ~ 1/5000 sec.
Bird photographers and air show shooting, need to set the shutter speed as high as possible, so as to ensure that the capture of the clear and accurate surface of the flight state in the air, when you want to get the flight trajectory and smoke effect of the performance aircraft, and the movement of the wings of the birds, you can adjust the shutter back to 1/300~1/500 seconds.
The shutter speed mentioned above is by no means static, and the specific parameters need to be continuously accumulated in the creation of photography in order to be used flexibly.
