Recently, a top-secret document from the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) exposed the affair of Prince Philip, the husband of the late Queen Elizabeth II of United Kingdom, according to a report by The Mirror on July 21, which also drew renewed attention to the infamous Profumo affair.

The Profumo affair was one of the most high-profile scandals sweeping United Kingdom society in the 20th century, when married Conservative minister John ·Profumo denied in the House of Commons that he was having an affair with 19-year-old showgirl Kristen ·Keeler (pictured above). But a few months later, as the evidence became public, the 48-year-old had to resign as minister. On the other hand, the dancer's relationship with Yevgen·y Ivanov, a Soviet naval attaché, was made public as Christine sold her story to the News of the World for £23,000.

Kristen was born in Middlesex, but she moved to London as a teenager and earned a living at the Merricabaret Club in SoHo. It was there that she met Stephen Ward, a well-connected osteopath·, a "middleman" who sought out young beauties for the United Kingdom establishment.

In 1961, at a lavish party hosted by Lord Astor, Dr. Ward introduced Christine to Profumo and his wife, actress Valerie · Hobson.
