The Hong Kong Book Fair 2024, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, will be held from 17 to 23 July at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Mr. Zhang Jianquan, a writer who was a member of the Guangdong Writers Association and is now a member of the Beijing Writers Association, brought two new books, "My Past in Business" published by Beijing Publishing House, and "Love in Shenzhen at That Time", a collection of short stories published by Shenzhen Publishing House, to the Book Fair.
Zhang Jianquan is a writer and lyricist, a member of the Beijing Writers Association, the China Music Copyright Association, and a director of the China Forestry Ecological Writers Association. In 1984, he transferred from the army and served as a leader of a state-owned enterprise, and later went to the sea to do business. His novels, essays, and poems have appeared in literary journals such as Beijing Literature, Tianya, and Selected Essays, and he is the author of a collection of essays, "Fresh Faces", among which "Goodbye Has Passed Forty Years" won the "Top Ten Prose Awards" at the 2021 China Prose Annual Conference.
"My Past in Business" is the first prize work of the 2022 China Prose Annual Conference, which includes a total of 60 essays by Zhang Jianquan. In the form of memoirs, the book tells the author's decades of business encounters, as well as unforgettable stories that he has experienced and heard, and shows various aspects of human nature by describing the ups and downs of the business world.
