Mr. Yan Shanchun, a member of the Communist Party of China, a famous animation artist, and a first-class director, passed away at 05:01 on July 25, 2024 at the age of 90 due to illness. Yan Shanchun, born in 1934, is a native of Dalian, Liaoning Province. He graduated from the Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in 1958, and entered the Shanghai Fine Arts Film Studio in the same year, where he served as animation designer, art designer, director, etc., and participated in the creation of many films such as "Havoc in the Heavenly Palace", "The Shepherd Flute", "Nezha in the Sea" and "The Golden Monkey Descends the Demon". Alone or co-directed more than ten animated films such as "Old Wolf Treats", "Net", "The Adventures of the Sloppy King" (with Qian Yunda), "Landscape Love" (with Tewei and Ma Xuan), "Desert Wind" (with Yao Guanghua) and so on.
Among them, "Landscape Love" won eight awards, including the Best Art Film Award of the 9th Chinese Film "Golden Rooster Award", the 1988 Outstanding Film Award of the Ministry of Radio, Film and Television, and the Grand Prize of the 1st Shanghai International Animation Film Festival; "Desert Wind" won the Special Award of the Jury of the 13th Chinese Film "Golden Rooster Award".
