Qinglan Port is located in the south of Wenchang County, Hainan Province. In the Ming Dynasty, the Qinglan Imperial Palace was set up here, which was later rewritten as "Qinglan", and the harbor was named after it.
1. The location of Qinglan Port
Qinglan Port, which is infused by the Wenjiao River, is located in the north of the east bank of Hainan Island, and the north is Bamen Bay, where the Wenjiao River and the Wenchang River flow from the east and west sides of the bay, and belong to the lagoon port.
Qinglan Port is long and narrow, about 5 nautical miles long from north to south and 0.2 to 0.3 nautical miles wide. It is the port with the best natural conditions for building a port in Qiongdong area.
Since the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, Qinglan Port has been an important commercial port on Hainan Island, and has the reputation of "the elbow of Qiongzhou" and "the throat of Wenchang".
2. The natural geographical conditions of Qinglan Port
Qinglan Port has a vast area, with a water surface of 120,000 square meters, a port with wide water depth, less siltation, and little wind and waves, making the natural conditions of the port better. The coast is densely populated with coconut groves and excellent vegetation.
The climate of Qinglan Port is hot and rainy, with an average annual temperature of more than 24 degrees and an annual rainfall of about 1,800 mm. On average, there are more than two typhoons or tropical storms per year, and the impact of typhoons is greater.
3. The important position of Qinglan Port
In 1966, a 300-ton trestle wharf was built in Qinglan City. In 1990, the State Council approved the port to be open to the outside world. In 2023, as one of the first batch of projects for the island-wide customs closure operation of Hainan Free Trade Port, the Qinglan Port Customs Closure Operation Project has completed the hardware construction.
Qinglan Port is an important fishing port in Hainan, a distribution center for water transport materials in eastern Hainan, and the only port open to the outside world in the northeast of Hainan Province.
Qinglan Port is an important logistics supply port base in Sansha City, and an important transportation port serving Wenchang Space Launch Center.
Fourth, the tourism resources of Qinglan Port
The port has the largest variety of mangrove forests, and there is a mangrove nature reserve. The Jianhua Mountain Coconut Grove on the east side of the Gangnan Exit is the largest coconut grove distribution area on Hainan Island. The seafood in the eastern suburbs of the coconut grove is rich in varieties and inexpensive, and Qinglan Port is the only place to go to the coconut grove in the eastern suburbs.
On the west side of the port, there is the ancestral residence of Song Qingling.
