The young pianist Rovey was particularly fascinated by the tension of Russian music and the drama and tragedy behind it.

Although the background and tone of Russian music are sad, they rarely linger in endless grief, always seeing the light of hope in the ultimate sadness, and tears in the extreme joy. This contradictory and complex emotion has become the most prominent feature of Russian music, and it is also the origin of the name of Rovi's solo concert "Song of Ice and Fire".

From the beginning of May to the end of June, 22-year-old Luo Wei embarked on a tour of China with "Songs of Ice and Fire", passing through Shanghai, Harbin, Guangzhou, Changsha, Guiyang and Chongqing.

In terms of the selection of the tour's repertoire, Rovey had a lot of ideas, with the first half of the repertoire selected from the music of Russian academic composers and the second half focusing on works by the Russian national music school.

"Rachmaninoff and others are educated in orthodox conservatories, and folk music schools such as Mussorgsky are not rigorously trained, but their imaginations of music are colorful, very colorful, and even a little wild. I wanted the audience to feel that the tragedy and drama behind the Russian work has so many branches and differences. ”

Although both have strong Russian feelings, but each is different, Luo Wei must not only show the rigor of the academic school, but also vividly interpret the brilliant and dazzling national style. The two styles collide in the same concert, which also echoes the theme of the performance of "Song of Ice and Fire", with an extreme contrast.

Rovey's love of Russian music is deeply rooted in his DNA. As a child, she enjoyed listening to Swan Lake, watching The Nutcracker, and even being sent by her parents to learn ballet, which she gave up considering the strict physical conditions of ballet, but this experience affected her understanding of Russian music.

At the age of 11, Rowe set the record for the youngest person in the world to perform prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3 with an orchestra. At the age of 13, she was admitted to the Curtis Conservatory of Music in the United States with the first full scholarship, where she studied under Gary Graffman and became the sister of Lang Lang and Wang Yujia.

Grafman was Russian and a student of the Golden Age master Horowitz. As an important leader in The Road to Study in the United States for nearly a decade, His passion for Russian music also has a subtle influence on Himey.

While studying with Graffman, Rovey's most recent impression was Tchaikovsky's "Domuka" (Lamentation), which is also one of the repertoire of this tour. Affected by the epidemic, Luo Wei took a year of online classes last year, she used her mobile phone to record the performance clips, emailed the teacher, he sent WeChat to call her how to adjust, "He often quotes his teacher's method, his own experience, including a lot of Russian songs, he has recordings, I listen to his recordings." These are invaluable personal experiences. ”

At the same time, the name conception, copywriting design, graphic design, and lighting scheduling related to the concert were all taken care of by Luo Wei.

In her opinion, the communication between the performer and the audience is very important, "I always tell myself that I am not only a player, but also the director of the whole tour, but also the audience of the tour." All the output related to the concert should start completely from me, so that it will be more interesting and the audience can better understand the artist's ideas. While playing Mussorgsky's Picture Exhibition, she positioned herself as a tour guide to the Museum of Music.

In addition to music, Rowey has always had his own requirements for visual presentation.

At the age of 17, Rovi signed to Universal Records, and at the age of 19 released his debut album "Wei Luo", which also included piano works by Russian musicians such as Shostakovich and Prokofiev.

Although she was young, she had her own insistence on the design of the album, "At that time they didn't know how to design it, because I was the youngest musician they signed, and at the beginning I found that pink dress, and I said no!" A lot of the songs I play are about war and death, and I say I want that sense of fragmentation, desolation, new industrial style, so the back of this album is a white suit of new industrial style, and I wear a suit in a set of photos taken in an abandoned warehouse in New York. ”

In his free time, Luo Wei is also an active B station up master, uploading performance videos, live music sharing meetings... Some fans just "entered the pit" from the B station and chased after her concert site. She also enjoys watching fashion show videos. Some fashion shows are not just fashion, but performance art, and the visual impact is so powerful that she feels full of power.

Some people think That Rowe has the potential to be a director, and she really took directing classes at curtiss School of Music, as well as drama classes, "I studied improvisational theater, which requires walking on stage with your eyes closed, like you're experimenting with the audience." 」 So, I think the performer has to master all the elements on the field. ”

"But playing the piano is always the first, and I try to spend all my time practicing." She said.

On the occasion of May Fourth Youth Day, as a youth representative, do you have some expectations for yourself?

"I don't expect anything from myself, I want to live up to what everyone expects of me. A reporter asked me. When 80-year-old Rovi wrote to you, who is now 22, what would you like to write? I said that even if she wrote, I would choose not to read it, and I would not copy it. I want to do the current things well, seize the opportunity as much as possible, set limits for myself, and finally, which step is which step. ”
