Nintendo and LEGO have teamed up again with the latest Super Mario World set, a tribute to the classic 1990 game. The 1215-piece set shows Mario the Cape riding on Yoshi, and features an intricate mechanical design, including a hand-crank that allows Yoshi's hands and feet to move and his mouth open. The set is priced at $129.99 and is currently available for pre-order on the LEGO online store, with shipments expected on October 1. LEGO has also expanded the product line with other video game-themed sets, including a remastered Atari 2600 and the Fortnite series in collaboration with Epic Games. Once again, Nintendo and LEGO have teamed up to announce a new collaboration that covers the world of Mario 64 and more, following on from the previous interactive Mario series, a remastered Nintendo entertainment system, and the engaging question mark block. This ongoing partnership continues to delight fans of both brands.
Super Mario World Set
The latest set pays homage to the 1990 classic Super Mario World, marking Mario's first adventure on the newly released 16-bit Super Nintendo entertainment system. Originally, the 1215-piece set appeared to show a caped Mario riding Yoshi. However, a closer look at the back reveals an intricate mechanical design, including a hand-crank that allows Yoshi's feet and arms to move, and a knob that opens his mouth and sticks out his tongue.
Pricing and other video game bundles
Many Mario-themed sets incorporate some form of interactive action, even if it's as simple as a LEGO man-eating flower, with a moving mouth. Yoshi's mechanical crank is closest to the NES set, which comes with a CRT-style TV with a crank that allows Mario to "walk" by scrolling the content of the screen. Mario & Yoshi's set is currently available for pre-order on LEGO's online store for $129.99 and will begin shipping on October 1. In addition, LEGO has expanded its product line with other video game-themed sets, such as the Atari 2600 remastered released in 2022, as well as a partnership with Epic Games to launch several Fortnite-themed sets, including the Battle Bus.
