Previously, market analyst Canalys brought the latest data on China's smartphone market, saying that it has achieved a further recovery, with shipments in the second quarter of 2024 increasing by 10% year-on-year to return to the level of 70 million units. Recently, IDC, a market data research institution, also released a mobile phone tracking report for the second quarter of 2024, saying that China's smartphone market continued its growth momentum, with shipments of about 71.58 million units, a year-on-year increase of 8.9%.
Among them, driven by manufacturers such as vivo, Huawei, and Xiaomi, the Android market will increase by 11.1% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2024, while Apple's market demand will still decline by 6.6% year-on-year despite the obvious improvement in market demand. Due to the lower shipments in the same period last year, coupled with the arrival of a new round of replacement cycle, China's smartphone market shipped more than 140 million units in the first half of this year, a year-on-year increase of 7.7%.
vivo successfully topped the Chinese smartphone market in the second quarter of 2024, with a market share of 18.5%, ranking first in multiple price segments such as 1,000-2,000 yuan, 3,000-4,000 yuan and 4,000-5,000 yuan, while the sub-brand iQOO alone occupies 5.5% of the overall market share, becoming the most successful sub-brand of all manufacturers. Huawei continued to rank second, with a market share of 18.1%, a year-on-year increase of more than 50%, and once again became the No. 1 smartphone market shipment in the first half of the year with a market share of 17.5%. OPPO continues to rank third with a market share of 15.7%, and the new Reno 12 series ranks first in the market share of 2000-3000 yuan; Honor fell from first to fourth in the previous quarter, with a market share of 14.5%, and its focus is mainly on building system-level AI; Xiaomi came in fifth, with a market share of 14.0 percent, and shipments continued to increase steadily, up 16.5 percent year-on-year.
In the second quarter of 2024, the folding screen mobile phone market maintained a triple-digit year-on-year growth rate, with shipments reaching 2.57 million units, a year-on-year increase of 104.6%. Huawei ranks first with a market share of 41.7%. The X Fold3 series was recognized, allowing vivo to rise to second place with a market share of 23.1%; The new product line, Magic Flip, helped Honor rank third, with a market share of 20.9%.
