According to overseas media a few days ago, Toyota and Subaru will add new members to their respective brands' electric vehicle families in the form of jointly developed SUVs, which are confirmed to be launched in 2026. It is reported that the new car will be built with parts from the bZ4X and other Toyota models to reduce costs. Subaru's Yashima plant in Gunma Prefecture, Japan, will produce 15,000 to 20,000 vehicles per month.
According to early planning this year, Subaru confirmed that it will launch three all-electric SUV models jointly developed with Toyota by the end of 2026 and four more models by the end of 2028, one of which is expected to be a three-row electric crossover to be produced in the United States. It is understood that the three-row electric crossover model is expected to go into production next year, while Nikkei Asia said that the production time of the model will be delayed due to design changes.
The previously unveiled Toyota Land Cruiser SE concept car has also completed the application for new car patent drawings in the domestic market. It is reported that the length×width and height of the new car are 51501990×1705mm, and the wheelbase is 3050mm, and its body length and wheelbase size are beyond the ideal L8 model. In terms of power, the new car will also be built on Toyota's e-TNGA platform, or a dual-motor four-wheel drive version will be launched for consumers to choose. Previously, the official also announced that the new car will have a "high torque power output" and adopt a load-bearing body architecture design.
