There is no shortage of art on the streets of Shanghai. This autumn, the annual Shanghai Street Art Festival opened again.
On October 12th, a special performance of "Sing for you - Sing for you" - the 10th Shanghai Street Art Festival (Yangpu) 2024 was held in Wujiaochang Square.
This is a special performance in Yangpu carried out by the Shanghai Street Art Festival, and the street artists brought "Lift Your Hijab" and "Youth Dance" with national characteristics, and also brought a chorus "My Motherland and Me".
Singing "My Motherland and Me" on stage, a young man with curly hair and black-rimmed glasses named Luo Xiaoluo. Since October 2014, the Shanghai street artist certification system has expanded from the first batch of 8 people to more than 380 people, cultivating a group of "new stars" well-known to the public. Luo Xiaoluo is one of them. In Shanghai for more than ten years, he went from "Shanghai drifter", to a street performer, and then to a full-time musician with more than one million account fans, his life was changed by street art.
"At that time, we saw a lot of street performers performing in Jing'an Park, and we were very longing, so we tried to do it. At first, I was inexperienced, but after a lot of experience, I came up with a more mature street performance plan. Luo Xiaoluo sighed, "Now that we have been known by netizens through self-media and online media, many friends have come to watch the performance, and many people even come from other places, we are very grateful." ”
For the public, the charm of street art is freedom and casualness, which is unexpected. "There is a lot of traffic here in Wujiaochang, and I usually pass by when I go out shopping. Today is an unexpected surprise, and I think this performance is really good. ”
In the eyes of singer Adu, street art is an encounter with passers-by, a way to participate in the lives of others. Over the years, his friends who used to form bands have changed careers, but he still persists. This time, he brought a song "Legend". "The most special thing about street art is that no one buys tickets in advance, nothing is predetermined. Only if your singing attracts him, he will stay for you. ”
It has been 10 years since the Shanghai street artist certification system, and street art has gradually become a cultural business card of Shanghai, with more and more performance venues, in addition to Jing'an Park, Yangpu's Wujiaochang and International Fashion Center are also widely welcomed by street performers and citizens.
In recent years, street artists have become younger and more professional, with more than half of the post-90s artists in the licensed team, and even post-00s, master's and doctoral degrees, returnees and other young people have come to the streets to find soulmates. They also have their own plans and expectations for the future.
The performance also presented awards to the winners of Shanghai's best street art attraction and "Shanghai Street Art Excellent Organization Unit". It is reported that on October 21, Shanghai Cultural Square will also hold a special public performance for the closing of the Shanghai Street Art Festival of "Luo Xiaoluo and His Street Art Partners".
