A few days ago, a comment article with the logo of "People's Daily Online" "Vulgar hype attracts attention, and it is not advisable to explode the "melon" culture" was spread on the Internet, but the police found that the article was fabricated by lawbreakers in the name of the media. Further investigation by some media found that such counterfeiting of legitimate websites is not an isolated incident.
Even, a mature "industrial chain" has developed behind this: it only costs a few hundred or thousands of yuan, no need to provide any personal identity information, no need to file for the record, and technical personnel can make illegal websites according to customer needs. A web developer randomly contacted by the reporter completed the design of the fake website page within half an hour according to the requirements, and the similarity with the original website was nearly 100%.
It's shocking how easy it is to fake a website, how "intimate" the service is, and how "close to the people" the price is. So, why is such a black ash industry so popular?
According to the 2020 Overview of the Internet Network Security Situation in the Mainland released by the Cyber Emergency Response Center of the People's Republic of China, about 200,000 counterfeit pages targeting domestic websites were found in the mainland that year, a year-on-year increase of about 1.4 times. In reality, this number may be even larger, and many people have been deceived by phishing websites to a greater or lesser extent.
Looking at the stubborn problems in this field, the key is that the technical threshold for building a website is not high and the cost is low. According to professionals, a single source code can replicate the main page of a website. In order to bypass the domestic ICP filing system, criminals directly set up servers overseas. If the average person does not pay attention to it, it is difficult to find the clues.
In addition to technical factors, the dizzying number of counterfeit websites is also related to the relatively strong "demand". A casual search reveals that there are many people who openly solicit business on the Internet for "cloning" sites. It can be seen that it is precisely because of the strong "demand" that this kind of black and gray business will show a deformed prosperity. What's even more worrying is that the dangers of this type of phishing website are multifaceted.
According to the disclosure of relevant departments, some fake websites lure netizens to register and recharge and provide personal information, some fake government websites to sell fake certificates, and some induce netizens to make money and transfer money in the name of after-sales and assistance in solving order problems by setting up fake customer service systems, which has become a "sharp weapon" for fraud. It can be seen that counterfeit websites seem simple and cheap, but they are very harmful, and behind them correspond to counterfeiting and fraud in various fields.
In this regard, on the one hand, the regulatory authorities should give full play to their technical advantages to carry out daily inspections, and once a suspected counterfeit website is found, promptly notify the counterfeited entity and confirm it, and finally the industry and information technology department and the public security department will seriously investigate and deal with it; On the other hand, it is necessary to increase the display and promotion of official and authoritative information, and classify and remind suspected counterfeit websites to improve the public's discernment.
In many cases, the reason why counterfeit websites are proliferating and make some netizens believe that they are true is that they take advantage of poor professional information, some netizens' weak ability to discriminate, and the luck of those who "know and buy fakes". Whether online or offline, the psychology of greedy for profits and love to take shortcuts has always been the ladder of scammers and counterfeiters.
From the perspective of governance channels, since media reporters can find clues and conduct in-depth investigations, the management department may also wish to follow the path and strengthen the initiative and flexibility of governance. Only by making counterfeit websites less easy and creating a deterrent effect on law enforcement can we effectively curb the proliferation of counterfeit websites.
