In 1995, the first phase of the Ghana local telephone expansion project started in the capital Accra, and the second phase of the construction site was carried out in the three cities of Kumasi, Haihaijiao and Wacheng. About 10 Chinese personnel from the Third Bureau of China General Construction Co., Ltd. implemented it locally. As the first project of China General Construction to go out with the whole system of engineering contracting, and also the first foreign commercial project in the mainland communication industry in the 90s, the Ghana local telephone expansion project was a valuable accumulation of experience and great significance for the third bureau of China General Construction at that time. In particular, the refined management of the project by foreign counterparts brought great inspiration to the implementation team members at that time, and laid the foundation for the subsequent implementation of overseas projects. In 2003, China General Construction Third Bureau undertook the MTEL base station project in Nigeria; In 2005, the ultra-large-scale MTN trunk optical cable project was developed in Nigeria.
In 2017, Anhui Tongfu Zhonghuijian Co., Ltd. assisted the Ministry of Education of Ethiopia to launch a private cloud project for 300 secondary schools and 10 universities, with 310 sites distributed in 11 states of Ethiopia. The project is an EPC general contracting project integrating survey, design, procurement, construction, international logistics, international training and after-sales maintenance. Let Ethiopian students enjoy world-class educational resources, and make great contributions to improving the quality of local education and improving the quality of the people.
In 2019, China General Construction signed a smart Burkina Faso project with the Ministry of Security of Burkina Faso, which is the first preferential foreign aid loan project between China and Burkina Faso after the resumption of diplomatic relations. It is a symbol of deepening cooperation and exchanges between the two countries, and a major achievement of the Belt and Road Initiative. The construction of the project includes the national backbone network, metro/access network and safe city, etc., and newly connects 22 large and medium-sized cities in Burkina Faso, covering a total of 5 million users, greatly improving the coverage rate of the backbone network in Burkina Faso, as well as the number of Internet broadband users and network penetration. The initial inspection of the project has been completed in the first half of 2024, and the Safe City System has been officially put into operation, effectively improving the work efficiency of government departments and enterprises, and playing an important role in comprehensive urban management. The project is an important infrastructure for national informatization in Burkina Faso, which not only can obtain economic benefits from the project itself, but also is of great significance to improve the government's service capacity, facilitate people's lives, and promote the country's digital transformation.
In 2020, Zhejiang Tongfu Engineering Co., Ltd. undertook the Mauritania City Safety Monitoring Project, which was the first time that Zhejiang Tongfu Engineering Co., Ltd. contracted a foreign-aided EPC project, which is a standard safe city project. The project can effectively improve the safety management level of the capital city of Mauritania and ensure the safety of people's lives and property, and has been well received by the Mauritanian government and the Chinese Embassy in Mauritania. On December 6, 2022, on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of Mauritania's national celebration, the completion ceremony of the project was held at the General Directorate of National Security of Mauritania.
In 2021, Jiangsu Tongfu China Post Construction Co., Ltd. participated in the construction of the data center for the African Union Africa Center for Disease Control and Prevention Headquarters (Phase I) project. The project is located in the southern suburbs of Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, with three new and modern buildings and laboratories of the Africa Center for Disease Control and Prevention rising from the ground. The bronze model of the project building was displayed in the 20th National Assembly Hall. This foreign aid project is also a vivid portrayal of China and Africa sharing a common destiny and walking hand in hand, leaving a new mark of the times for the building of a China-Africa community of health and health.
In 2021, Zhejiang Tongfu Huaxin Design Institute undertook the design of the Galaxy data center in Nigeria. The project provides ICT equipment and services to government ministries, departments and agencies, and is responsible for the construction and operation of the National ICT Infrastructure Backbone Network (NICTIB), which spans the country, with data centers in Abuja and Kano in the first and second phases of the project, with a total construction area of about 7,000 square meters, making it one of the largest data centers in Africa and the first in Nigeria. The project covers all professional design and adopts Tier3 design standards, which will effectively improve Nigeria's digital infrastructure, enhance data security, and promote Nigeria's digital transformation after completion.
