The United Cup is a mixed team event jointly organised by the Australia Tennis Federation, the ATP and the WTA. The inaugural competition will be held in 2023, and the third edition will be held in 2025.
The 18 participating teams will be divided into six groups to compete in the group stage in two cities, Sydney and Perth. The top winners in each group and the two best performers in each city advance to the quarterfinals. The quarter-finals will continue to be held in Sydney and Perth, with both the semi-finals and finals taking place in Sydney.
Of the 18 participating teams, 6 countries will be determined by the ATP singles rankings, 6 quotas will be determined by the WTA singles rankings, and the remaining 6 places will be determined by the ATP and WTA player rankings. Host Australia will automatically receive a wild card if they do not qualify.
The United Cup is divided into 1 singles, 1 doubles and 1 mixed doubles match, and the match can be played first in either men's singles or women's singles, but the last match must be a mixed doubles match, and the team that wins 2 of the 3 matches will eventually win.
