Shanghai's first double-decker highway cable-stayed bridge was fully opened to traffic
With a total investment of 2.95 billion yuan, the construction of the Minpu Bridge project started on September 1, 2005, the main bridge structure was completed on July 22, 2009, and the upper bridge deck was opened on December 31, 2009. On April 20, 2010, the lower deck of Minpu Bridge was opened, and since then, Shanghai's first double-decker highway cable-stayed bridge, Shanghai Minpu Bridge, has been fully opened to traffic.
Minpu Bridge is the eighth bridge across the Huangpu River, it is currently the world's largest span, the widest double-deck highway cable-stayed bridge, but also the largest span and the largest bridge on the Huangpu River in Shanghai, and the first double-decker highway cable-stayed bridge in Shanghai. The total length of the bridge is 3982.7 meters, the total length of the main bridge is 1212 meters, the main span across the river is 708 meters, the main bridge has a total of 176 cable-stayed cables, each cable-stayed cable has a diameter of 22 cm, and is composed of 439 strands of galvanized steel wire with a diameter of 7 mm, the longest of which is 380 meters long and weighs 55 tons, which is the largest cable-stayed cable of the world's bridge. The upper deck of the bridge is a highway with a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour, with a width of 44 meters, with two-way eight lanes, and emergency parking strips on both sides, and the lower deck is 28 meters wide, which is a two-way six-lane local road. The main tower of the bridge is "H" shaped, and the tower is 210 meters high.
Minpo Bridge
The Helong section of the main bridge of Minpu Bridge weighs 720 tons, and is a trapezoidal steel structure truss girder with an upper layer of more than 23 meters long, a lower layer of more than 26 meters long, a width of 44 meters and a height of 11.5 meters.
The Minpu Bridge uses the expressway and the local road to share the same bridge line, which not only solves the problem of highway crossing, but also meets the needs of local residents to cross the river. The lower layer of the bridge starts from Luchen Road in Pujiang Town in the east, passes through the Huangpu River in the west along the farmland on the south side of Yaojiabang, and ends at Longwu Road in the west along Fanghe Road in Puxi, which is the first bridge connecting both sides of the Pujiang River in Minhang District, which greatly facilitates the traffic of residents on both sides of the river.
Minhang No. 10 and Minhang No. 11 were opened to traffic simultaneously, among them, Minhang No. 10 connected Beiqiao Station of Rail Transit Line 5 and Shendu Highway Station of Line 8, realizing the transfer between the two rail transit lines across the river. The upper layer of the bridge is used as a river crossing channel connecting Minhang District and Pudong New Area, and from Pudong International Airport through this bridge, it can directly reach Jiaxing and Huzhou areas in Zhejiang Province, and can also be connected with Shanghai Suburban Ring Road, Jiajin, Xinfengjin and other expressways, setting up an important "air corridor" here.
