Xuhui District is located in the center of Shanghai, with a high population density and high level of urbanization, with a number of large green parks, as well as the Huangpu River and its branches, and other water systems, which have nurtured abundant wildlife resources. In order to thoroughly implement Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization and actively respond to the call of the state and the city, since May this year, the District Ecology and Environment Bureau has carried out biodiversity background investigation and assessment in the whole district.
At present, the first round of field terrestrial and aquatic biological surveys in Xuhui District has been completed, including the preliminary investigation of plants, birds, mammals, insects and amphibians and reptiles in Xujiahui Park, Longhua Martyrs Cemetery and West Bank Natural Art Park (Phase I), and the preliminary investigation of fish, zooplankton and benthic invertebrates in Puhuitang, Longhua Port and Zhangjiatang Port.
