Habermas's interpretation of the changing process of historical materialism

In the first stage, Habermas interpreted historical materialism as an empirically sound philosophy that differs from other forms of philosophy; the second stage focuses mainly on the construction of epistemology with reflective capacity, mainly from three aspects. First, to reinterpret historical materialism from the perspective of political economy, second, to criticize and analyze epistemology, third, to distinguish between labor and interaction based on communicative relations; in the third stage, Habermas tried to reconstruct the theory of historical materialism; in the fourth stage, Habermas has completely abandoned historical materialism and turned to the construction of his theory of communicative behavior.
