On October 23rd, the 16th National Higher Normal College Biology Curriculum and Pedagogical Seminar was successfully held in Hubei University for Nationalities and the Biology Teaching Committee of the Chinese Education Association. Professor Deng Lei, deputy secretary of the party committee of the university, attended the opening ceremony of the seminar.
The seminar was held in a combination of online and offline. Attending the opening ceremony were Professor Liu Enshan, Chairman of the Biology Teaching Committee of the Chinese Education Association, Professor Liu Enshan of the School of Life Sciences of Beijing Normal University, Vice Chairman, Professor Cui Hong of Central China Normal University, Secretary-General, Professor Xie Kaibin of Nanjing Normal University, Professor Hou Jianjun of the College of Life Sciences of Hubei Normal University, Professor Zhang Chi, Dean of the School of Biological Sciences and Technology, and teachers and students majoring in biological sciences. Nearly 500 experts and scholars from dozens of colleges and universities participated in the opening ceremony and academic seminars through online forms, graduate students in biology education and front-line teachers in secondary schools.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Zhang Chi, Dean of the School of Biological Sciences and Technology, and Professor Deng Lei delivered a warm speech. On behalf of the Biology Teaching Committee of the Chinese Education Association, Professor Cui Hong introduced the preparation of this seminar and expressed his heartfelt thanks to Hubei University for Nationalities for its preparation and organization of this conference. After the agenda of the opening ceremony of the conference is completed, the leaders, experts and representatives attending the conference are invited to take a group photo.
Professor Xie Kaibin presided over the seminar. Professor Liu Enshan's special report on "Hot Spots and Trends of Biology Curriculum Reform in China" kicked off the seminar, followed by Dr. Dai Guo of Hunan Normal University, Dr. Zhao Fangfang and Dr. Guo Shuchen of Nanjing Normal University, and Dr. Jin Dongxue of Northeast Normal University respectively on "Design and Implementation of High School-based Curriculum with Interdisciplinary Concepts" and "Middle School Students' Alternative Conceptions about the theory." Reports such as Human Blood Circulatory System Using Four-ticr Multiple-choice Tests, Meaning Construction of Scientific Models in Biology Teaching, and Research on the Development of Scientific Attitude Evaluation Tools for Students Based on Rasch Model and Factor Analysis were conducted in-depth exchanges with field experts, teachers and students majoring in biological sciences, and teachers and students online.
On the afternoon of the same day, the seminar was divided into four sub-venues with a total of 22 reports online, and more than 300 university teachers and graduate students of biology teaching theory exchanged educational teaching results around the development and reform of biology curriculum and its teaching, and the reports were wonderful. Biology teachers and students who participated in the seminar said that the high level of reports and the good effect of the online conference are of great significance for promoting the development of biology teacher education and basic education reform.
