His name is Liu Renwu, he is 67 years old and a native of Chengdu, Sichuan. His father's name was Liu Chongyuan, born in Chengdu in 1923 into a military family, at the end of 1937, the news of the fall of Nanjing and the massacre shook all of China, liu Chongyuan, who was not yet 16 years old at the time, was sad and indignant, and he was in high school, and after obtaining his father's permission, he signed up for the 16th term of the Whampoa Military Academy.
In the following 7 years, Liu Chongyuan threw himself into the War of Resistance, successively transferred to Shaanxi, Yunnan and other places, and personally experienced the Confrontation of the Yellow River, the counterattack of Northern Burma, and the surrender of the Zhijiang River. On September 9, 1945, Japan formally surrendered to China at the auditorium of the Central Army Officer School in Nanjing, and Liu Chongyuan, then captain of the special service battalion of the New 6th Army, was urgently transferred to Nanjing to perform the task of guarding the perimeter of the surrender ceremony.
Due to the trickery of history, when Liu Chongyuan returned to a normal life, he learned that he was only left with his wandering son Liu Renwu. When the elderly Liu Chongyuan found his son who lived by begging in the Guizhou area, he found that Liu Renwu was seriously damaged by his brain due to injury, and his IQ suddenly became like a five- or six-year-old child. Since then, the father and son have been dependent on each other since then, and have lived in a rented house in the small town of Jiangjin, Chongqing.
In the years since, the elderly Liu Chongyuan has been carefully caring for his son, using his pension to pay for renting and the living expenses of a family of two. Later, after the volunteers learned about Liu Chongyuan's situation during the visit, they took the initiative to apply for condolence funds from the Shenzhen Longyue Charity Foundation, and were willing to fund to help him hire a nanny to take care of Liu Renwu.
Last year, Liu Chongyuan, who was nearly 100 years old, was diagnosed with liver cancer and his health deteriorated. During his serious illness and bedridden, Liu Renwu insisted on standing in front of the hospital bed silently guarding his father, often not eating or drinking. The stubborn look in his eyes revealed his dependence on his father and the fear of losing his father. Sometimes because he couldn't stand the blow of his father's serious illness, Liu Renwu would run out of the ward and cry.
On March 1, 2020, the first night of Liu Chongyuan's death, Liu Renwu has been quietly guarding in front of his father's spirit, not eating, drinking, and staying up all night. "My dad is dead, I'm going to send him." After his father left, Liu Renwu drew a line on the calendar on March 1. Liu Chongyuan said that since this day, he has no father again...
