After the "double reduction", a summer camp boom was set off: more than 80% of the enterprises were established within 5 years, and the qualifications of some institutions were questionable

China Times (www.chinatimes.net.cn) reporter Ge Aifeng, trainee reporter Guo Haoyi reported in Shenzhen

"After the holidays, children stay at home all day, adults can't accompany them all day, and they don't want to be immersed in iPads and mobile phones, going out to participate in camp activities, and it is a good choice to increase their knowledge." Recently, Ms. Yu signed up her children for summer camp activities.

Speaking of the summer camp, Ms. Yu looked satisfied, she told the "China Times" reporter that this is not the first time the child has participated in the summer camp, "After the child returned from the last military summer camp, I felt that he was more independent and assertive. Participating in summer camps alone can improve children's self-care ability; for parents, they can also relax for a while. ”

At present, it is the summer vacation, many parents choose to let their children participate in various forms of study and summer camp activities, and domestic camp education is booming. According to a survey conducted by the Puhua Industry Research Institute of China Research Institute, this summer, the number of summer camps for all kinds of children has increased significantly compared with the same period last year, and the themes of summer camps are also more abundant, and summer camp products such as military training, archaeological experience, and artificial intelligence experience are warmly sought after by parents.

Jiang Yonghong, vice chairman of the China Education Improvement Agency, said in an interview with the "China Times" reporter that this year, under the background of the "double reduction" policy, the market demand for summer camp activities has been improved. These activities allow children to learn teamwork in practice and gain knowledge and skills. "But parents should also note that many summer camp institutions have problems such as lack of operating qualifications and inadequate safety guarantees."

The summer camp market is hot Guangdong has the largest number of related enterprises

This summer, various summer camps and study activities have ushered in a new wave of climax.

According to a survey conducted by the Puhua Industry Research Institute of The Chinese Academy of Research, the number of summer camps for children this summer has increased significantly compared with the same period last year, and the themes of summer camps are also more abundant, and summer camp products such as military training, archaeological experience, and artificial intelligence experience are warmly sought after by parents.

The staff of a summer camp institution in Shenzhen told the "China Times" reporter that the number of people who came to the institution to register this summer increased a lot compared with previous years, and all activities outside the province were cancelled in August due to the epidemic situation, and some projects in the city can also be registered, and the number of places is tight. Staff at another military summer camp agency told reporters that the quota for the project was full in August.

This year, under the background of the "double reduction" policy, the market demand for summer camp activities has been enhanced. Jiang Yonghong told this reporter that with the release of the "double reduction" policy, off-campus training institutions and related enterprises that carry out discipline training have been impacted. Nowadays, under the background of not allowing subject training on weekends, winter and summer vacations, and holidays, summer camps have become an "alternative" for parents to arrange their children's summer life.

In recent years, various summer camp-related enterprises have sprung up. According to the data of Tianyancha, there are currently about 48,000 enterprises in China whose names or business scope include "summer camp, parent-child expansion, and outdoor expansion", and the status is in business, survival, migration in, and out of the relevant enterprises. Among them, more than 80% of related enterprises were established within 5 years, especially in 2018 and 2019, the annual number of related enterprises registered was about 12,000 and 15,000 respectively, and the number of registrations in 2020 was still more than 7,600.

It is worth mentioning that from the perspective of geographical distribution, Guangdong Province has the largest number of summer camp-related enterprises, more than 6400, accounting for about 13.5% of the total ratio of the country; the second and third are Anhui Province and Jiangsu Province, and the existing number of related enterprises in the two provinces is about 4300, accounting for about 9%.

At the same time, the types of summer camps are gradually biased towards a combination of game entertainment and educational learning. The "2020-2025 China Summer Camp Industry Market Prospect and Future Investment Strategy Analysis Report" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report") released by the China Industry Research Institute shows that from the perspective of the itinerary of summer camps around the world, travel and life experience have become the main topics of summer camps around the world, and summer camps that simply attend classes are very rare, accounting for about 2% of the entire market share.

Jiang Yonghong pointed out to the "China Times" reporter that as the call of parent groups to promote the all-round development of their children has gradually risen, the summer camp activities of "edutainment and education" have become more and more favored by parents. As far as the summer vacation travel and summer camp market during this year's summer vacation are concerned, the potential consumption trends and business opportunities are very large.

Ms. Yu also reflected to this reporter that in the future, she will continue to let children participate in summer camps, and will continue to choose theme projects for travel and life experience, "Should be appropriate to relax children, after all, it is summer vacation." ”

The qualifications of some institutions are questionable, and the market concentration is not high

Although the summer camp market is hot, the qualification of various institutions has been questioned. The above-mentioned "Report" pointed out that most of the organizers of summer camps are travel agencies, and some primary and secondary schools, training institutions, social groups, etc. are also competing to participate in the summer camp market by using their own industry or resource advantages. There are thousands of institutions operating summer camps, and there are no so-called leading enterprises in the entire industry. The market concentration is quite low, and the market share of the top ten companies in the industry does not exceed 5%.

Among them, travel agencies and training institutions only have the qualifications to undertake tourism business and training qualifications, and the competent units are the tourism department and the education department. The rest of the many institutions specializing in summer camps have no tourism qualifications and no training qualifications, and the regulatory body is not clear.

In addition, the qualifications of some summer camp teachers are also worrying. Although the above-mentioned staff introduced to this reporter that the camp teachers all underwent strict and systematic training and screening, and finally held a certificate, when the reporter asked about the specific documents, the personnel said that it was the "counselor card" issued by the camp.

It is worth noting that when children carry out summer camp activities, they may also encounter problems in terms of safety, accommodation and management. In this regard, how will institutions assume the social responsibility of protecting and guiding young people? This is also a concern for parents.

In addition to the qualification problem, the charging standards of various training institutions are not uniform. This reporter learned from the information released by a number of summer camp institutions in Shenzhen that there are more medium- and long-term summer camp research products for 7-10 days, and the average daily price ranges from 500 yuan to 1500 yuan, and the price difference is large. In addition, almost all summer camp institutions adopt the registration process of "pay first and then sign the contract", which is also easy to bring consumer rights protection problems.

Jiang Yonghong said that at present, the summer camp industry is in a barbaric growth period, there are problems such as lack of qualifications, unclear fees, etc., it is urgent to accelerate the improvement of relevant policies and regulations, clarify the nature, status and management norms of various types of summer camp institutions, and improve the supervision system of the summer camp industry. In addition, we should also strengthen industry self-discipline, support the summer camp industry to establish industry associations, and establish supervision and guarantee mechanisms in the industry. "If a national summer camp association is established, it may be more conducive to the healthy development of the industry."

He also suggested that when parents select summer camps for their children, they should first see whether the institution has an authoritative institution certification; secondly, they should check the qualifications of the instructors and teachers who lead the team; and then look at the word of mouth, and the institution with a good reputation shows that its market feedback is also good. "It is important to choose the program that is suitable for the child, and parents should choose the corresponding summer camp according to what aspect of the child's ability needs to be improved." In fact, it may be better for the child to choose the project he likes, and understanding the child's needs will also make him more active. ”
