Opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge imminent Hong Kong's cross-border "bridge bus" is poised to take place

According to Xinhua News Agency, the opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is imminent, and Hong Kong cross-border bus operators have successively announced the frequency and ticketing arrangements for cross-border buses to and from Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macao through the bridge, making full preparations for the service after the opening of the bridge.

Guanzhong Bus Group, one of Hong Kong's major cross-border bus operators, held a kick-off ceremony for cross-border bus services on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge on the 18th. Huang Liangbai, chairman of Guanzhong Bus Group, introduced at the launching ceremony that after the opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Guanzhong Bus's subsidiaries will provide up to 400 cross-border buses between Guangdong and Hong Kong every day, with a departure interval of 15 to 30 minutes, from about 20 stations throughout Hong Kong to the Zhuhai port via the bridge, some of which will go to Jiangmen, Zhongshan and other cities in Guangdong Province through Zhuhai port.

The one-way fare of Guanzhong Bus from Hong Kong to Zhuhai Port is tentatively set at HK$120 to HK$130 for cross-border buses, HK$220 to HK$230 for two-way fares, and a SURCHARGE of HK$10 will be charged for outbound trips during the late night period (7:01pm to 6:59am).

In addition, Guanzhong Bus and its partners will provide up to 62 cross-border buses between Hong Kong and Macau per day, which is expected to be served 24 hours a day. One-way fares are set at HK$160, with an additional HK$20 surcharge on late-night hours, weekends and public holidays.

Huang Liangbai said that Guanzhong Bus will add additional special routes during the daily busy period to provide services for passengers to and from Hong Kong International Airport, Ocean Park, Disneyland and other places, and will gradually increase the frequency according to the number of passengers.

According to reports, in order to cope with the increase in cross-border passengers after the opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Guanzhong Bus has comprehensively improved the online ticket purchase service, which is convenient for passengers to use payment methods such as WeChat pay, and adds free wireless Internet access and USB charging equipment to the car.

In addition to Guanzhong Bus, the "Hong Kong and Macau No. 1" bus company, which is jointly operated by a number of cross-border bus companies in Hong Kong, also released its proposed schedule of Hong Kong and Macao cross-border buses this week. According to the schedule, Hong Kong and Macau No. 1 will arrange a total of 38 cross-border bus trips between Hong Kong and Macau via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge every day, charging HK$170 to HK$190 one-way.

Huang Liangbai said that the opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge will greatly facilitate the travel of tourists, help promote the development of tourism, and will also drive significant growth in many industries such as hotels, retail, catering and transportation.

Chen Zongyi, managing director of a cross-border bus company under Guanzhong Bus, introduced that the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge will create a large number of cross-border passenger demand in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and cross-border through buses have competitive advantages in terms of stations, frequencies and fares, and are expected to usher in "leapfrog development". In addition, it can also use the customer source brought by the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed railway to promote the linkage of tourism in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Macao, Zhuhai and other places, and then boost the economic development of Hong Kong and the entire Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is located in the Lingling Ocean at the mouth of the Pearl River and is a large cross-sea passage connecting Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macau. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is about 42 kilometres long from the Hong Kong Port to the Zhuhai and Macau Ports, including the 12-kilometre Hong Kong Link Road and the 30-kilometre-long Main Bridge, making it the longest bridge-tunnel bridge in the world. Together with the approximately 13 km long Zhuhai connection, the total length of the bridge is 55 km.
