In the golden autumn, in the northeast corner of Chen Tomb Village on the eastern outskirts of Linqing City, an ancient pine tree branch is dry and abrupt, standing proudly between heaven and earth. Between the drying, the few branches are covered with green color, showing the vicissitudes.
The tree is about 16 meters high, has a circumference of about 2 meters, and a crown width of about 17 meters, and its canopy is like an umbrella, and its branches are curved and stretched, like a dragon. Because its leaves have five shapes: rice grains, bamboo grates, needles, thorns and trumpets, tourists are attracted to the column to watch. The spectacle of five leaves, not shining away.

Legend has it that this tree was planted during the Ming Yongle years, so it is estimated that it has been hundreds of years ago.
The age of the tree is not strange, strange in the leaves. Because its leaves have five shapes: rice grains, bamboo grates, needles, thorns, and trumpets, they are called five kinds of pine.
Some people say that this tree is a five kinds of pine sapling kink, which become one over time, so it gives birth to five leaves. It is also said that the tree itself is a heterophyllate species belonging to the conifer family. However, why there are five leaves, there is no authoritative research and identification so far, and its identity has become a mystery to be solved.
In 1935, the "Linqing Fangzhi" said, "In the east Chen Family Tomb Village, there is a pine plant, the color is towering, and the azure is deep and beautiful", "The old dry wheel is really a huge view".
The tree is named "Lone Pine in the Eastern Suburbs" and is included in the "Ten Scenic Spots of Linqing". In the Linqing County Chronicle, Zhang Shumei of Yiren wrote a poem with "Lone Pine in the Eastern Suburbs": There are long pines that are 100 feet high, and the branches are meandering like dragons and snakes. It is not merged with Fan Hui, and it is plummeting straight up.

"Ancient trees are many tribulations!" Talking about the five kinds of pine, Xia Runfei, deputy director of the Linqing Forestry Development Service Center, said that the tree was internally burned twice in 1943 and 1969, both lasted for several days, although the trunk and abdomen were burned and the dead branches increased, but miraculously survived to this day.
In the 1980s, a unit in Linqing raised funds to build a stone fence and repair it.
After many years, the ancient trees have become weaker and weaker, showing a state of near-death. With the emphasis on the protection of ancient trees, in 2001, Wushan Pine was designated as a key cultural relics protection unit in Liaocheng City.
In 2019, the Linqing Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources and Planning invited experts from Shandong Agricultural University to formulate a management and protection plan for Wushan Pine, and according to the opinions of experts, strengthened and fertilized Wushan Pine and other rehabilitation measures.
"Ancient and famous trees are 'living cultural relics, living fossils', and are witnesses to the development of a city." Xia Runfei introduced that this year, in order to further strengthen the protection of ancient and famous trees, the Linqing Municipal Natural Resources and Planning Bureau took the reform of the forest chief system as a breakthrough, solidly promoted the "green protection" work, and carried out key listing protection of the city's ancient trees and ancient trees, including wushan pine, not only so that wushan pine has a new "identity card", but also will receive more care in the future.

Xia Runfei told reporters that when it comes to the origin of the five pines, there is such a record in the historical records: According to the descendants of the Chen family, during the Ming Yongle period, his ancestor Ren Jinyiwei, when his grandmother went north from Shaoxing Province, Zhejiang Province, because of nostalgia for the hometown, twisted the five kinds of pine saplings into a bunch, inserted them into flower pots, and brought Linqing with the ship. After survival, it is planted in the courtyard. After the death of his grandmother, he was transplanted next to the tomb to commemorate it, and it is amazing that the tree has grown over time.
In Linqing folk, there is still such a story about the five pines.
There is a Chen Zhuang in the eastern suburbs of Linqing City, and there is a smart and very good-looking girl in the village, called Chen Gu. Because she was beautiful and good-looking, several rich people wanted to marry her, but Aunt Chen was unwilling. She had already taken a fancy to a descendant of Liu Kui in this village, and Liu Kui was also in love with Chen Gu.
Liu Kui's family is very poor, his parents are old and sick, and they often eat the last meal without eating. Liu Kui wanted to read. Chen Gu used her savings to help him.
Fast forward to the year of the imperial examination, Chen Gu sold the real estate for Liu Kui to enter Beijing to catch the exam. Liu Kui went to Beijing to take the exam, and Chen Gu took care of Liu Kui's parents, and life was very difficult.
Half a year has passed, Liu Kui has no news at all, Chen Gu can't eat during the day, can't sleep at night, and her body is losing weight day by day. Later, two old people died one after another due to Si'er's heart.
One day, the good news came, Liu Kui rushed to pass the exam, became a high official, and would return to his hometown in a few days. Chen Gu went to the field to collect five wildflowers and planted them on her head, waiting for Liu Kui to return. But Chen Gu, who was full of expectations, did not wait for Liu Kui, but waited for the news that Liu Kui had married the daughter of The Prime Minister.
Gu Chen was devastated, ran to her father's grave and cried bitterly, crying for a long time and unable to relieve her inner grief, so she crashed into a big tree and died. Soon, in the place where Chen Gu died, a pine tree grew. This pine tree has five branches and grows five different leaves, and everyone says that this is the change of the five wildflowers that Chen Gu wore on her head.

"Ancient and famous trees are 'living cultural relics and living fossils', and they are also precious biological resources, which are related to the protection of China's biological resources and historical and cultural heritage." Xia Runfei introduced that since the beginning of this year, in order to effectively strengthen the protection and management of ancient and famous trees, Linqing City has comprehensively carried out a census of "ancient trees and famous trees" and carried out listing protection for all ancient trees and ancient tree groups in the city, so that ancient trees and famous trees have electronic "identity cards".
According to the census, Linqing City has 1455 ancient trees (including ancient tree groups) of more than 100 years old, 2 famous trees and 2 ancient tree groups. In accordance with the requirements of "one tree and one responsible unit, one tree and one protection sign, one tree and one archive data", the main body of protection responsibility has been clarified, protection measures have been implemented, and archival materials have been established and improved. At the same time, the use of county records, inscriptions and interview estimates and other methods to identify tree age, famous trees, ancient tree groups, so that the situation is clear, the bottom number is clear, providing a reliable basis for the protection and management of ancient trees, and according to the results of the census, timely carry out identification, registration, listing and other work.
In order to improve the archives of "ancient and famous trees", in the census, the Linqing Municipal Natural Resources and Planning Bureau made detailed records of the ancient and famous tree species, tree age, chest diameter, crown width, growth potential, growth environment, historical allusions, legends, etc. And the city's ancient trees and trees unified numbering, so that each ancient tree has a unique, unchanged number, at present, the first-class ancient trees and famous trees information data has been entered into the national ancient trees and famous trees information management system. Make a protection sign containing information such as number, tree name, Latin name, family genus, tree age, protection level, maintenance unit, etc., and print a two-dimensional code on the sign, realizing "one tree and one card", and the masses can scan the two-dimensional code to view the information of ancient trees and famous trees in detail.
