The HealyHam Terrier was a breed carefully improved by Captain John Edward from 1850 to 1891 in Silliham, Wales. There were no exact breeding records at the time, but it can be judged that it was produced by the Bull's Head Terrier, the Western Highland White Terrier, the Short-legged Long-Body Terrier, and the Welsh Corgi Hybrid.
In 1903, the dog was first exhibited at a local dog show in Wales. The dog's club was founded in Healyham in 1908 and was registered and recognized by the American Dog Owners Club (AKC) and the British Dog Owners Club (KC) in 1911. The dog is bred to hunt animals such as foxes, otters and badgers, and has the ability to dig holes quickly and burrow into hunting targets. Appearance characteristics
