According to research, Taiping lyrics were formed around the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, which was more popular on the outskirts of Beijing, and was later introduced by cross-talk artists to "sing" activities. It is an important part of "singing" in the four homework of cross-talk "speaking, learning, teasing and singing". When performing, two bamboo boards are held in the hand, and light notes, accents and serial dots are struck as accompaniment, and the two bamboo boards are generally called "hand jade".

In the 1920s, Wang Zhaolin made bold innovations in the tune of Taiping lyrics, (every four sentences are repeated, the words rhyme, and the melody is strengthened), and he produced records such as "Persuasion Party" and "Three Sons-in-law Shangshou", and also choreographed many songs, so that Taiping lyrics could be promoted.

After liberation, because cross-talk actors have entered the stage to perform, there is no need to use it to attract audiences. As a result, the Taiping lyrics were once on the verge of being lost, and the entire Tianjin cross-talk community performed Taiping lyrics during the performance, including Yang Shaokui (1906-1966) and Wang Benlin (1919-1983). After the reform and opening up, it became a masterpiece at the end of the 20th century.
In 1998, Mr. Yu Baolin organized the establishment of the "Friends Cross-Talk Group" and began to excavate and sort out traditional cross-talk works, Liu Wenbu and Tong Shouben took the opportunity to put the Taiping lyrics back on the stage, so that this art was passed on.
Tong Shouben and Liu Wenbu both have a relationship with Yang Shaokui, the lyrics of the Taiping lyrics, and Tong Shouben learned several Taiping lyrics with Yang Shaokui when he was young.
Liu Wenbu (1936-2018) studied under Yang Shaokui at the age of 12 and performed at the Tianjin Shengyuan Tea House after his death. Guo Rongqi is still Liu Wenbu's cousin.

In 2013, Tong Shouben and Liu Wenbu became the inheritors of the Taiping lyrics of Tianjin's intangible cultural heritage.
Wang Shuangfu, a cross-talk actor in the Armed Police Cultural and Labor Troupe, received his father's family heirloom, and his father, the famous Taiping lyricist Wang Benlin, became the inheritor of the Taiping lyrics of Beijing's intangible cultural heritage in 2009.

When the Deyun Society was first founded, because there was a great shortage of cross-talk actors, especially some powerful and famous cross-talk celebrities, Mr. Jin Wensheng recommended Liu Wenbu to Guo Degang. (It is said that a few words were also specifically instructed...) Although he later left the Deyun Society for special reasons, he was still very popular when he performed at the Deyun Society.

The reason why Liu Wenbu is called "the first person in China's double reed" and "the first person in China's Taiping lyrics"
It is said that it is because when he was young, Liu Wenbu closed himself in a hut with large mirrors on all sides in order to learn the double reed very well, (the double reed does not belong to the category of learning, belongs to the category of teasing) and slowly practiced it, as long as the wood is awakened, Liu Wenbu's two eyes are motionless, many people who can oboe can not learn, when the elderly perform "Big Double Reed", when it comes to prostrating, immediately kneel on the stage with both legs and bang the platform. The actors behind the double reed in the old society were very hardworking, and they could not act without a good voice. Now it's easy to do because there are microphones.
As for the Taiping lyrics, first of all, it is thanks to his teacher Yang Shaokui who is a Taiping lyrics everyone. Coupled with his personal preference, Liu Wenbu inherited most of the teacher's repertoire. His Taiping lyrics are very interesting in the use of nasal sounds.
