From September 27 to 28, the Central Talent Work Conference was held in Beijing. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the People's Republic of China and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, attended the meeting and delivered an important speech, stressing: "We are closer than at any time in history to the grand goal of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and we are more eager for talents than at any time in history." The meeting clarified the next step of China's talent development, "to provide talent support for the basic realization of socialist modernization by 2035, and to lay a good talent foundation for the comprehensive construction of a socialist modern power in 2050." The conference fully reflects the great importance that our country attaches to the cultivation of talents. As a high-level talent and scientific and technological worker in the field of starch, I have deeply thought about how to follow the requirements of the Party Central Committee for the vast number of scientific and technological workers, "adhere to the world's scientific and technological frontier, adhere to the main economic battlefield, face the major needs of the country, face the people's life and health, and constantly march towards the breadth and depth of science and technology."

According to the "Healthy China 2030" Planning Outline issued and implemented by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, it is necessary to take health as the primary strategy, adhere to the principle of prevention and the combination of prevention and treatment, and strengthen the study of major and long-term health issues affecting national health. In view of the major social demand of "health", the starch team of the State Key Laboratory of Bio-based Materials and Green Papermaking uses the team's advantages in the field of starch to develop staple foods for people with high blood sugar based on functional starch and controllable starch processing technology, serving more than 100 million diabetic patients in China. On the other hand, through the deep processing of products, the comprehensive utilization of processing by-products, and the extraction of plant active ingredients, we will develop representative functional food components, such as allicin and capsaicin, etc., to provide technical support for functional food ingredients and related industries.

At the beginning of 2020, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued the Opinions on Further Strengthening the Control of Plastic Pollution, which clarified the phased task goal of strengthening the control of plastic pollution. In October 2021, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology pointed out that it will continue to support the revision of national standards in the field of biodegradable plastics such as "Biodegradable Materials and Product Degradation Performance and Labeling Requirements" and "Safe Biodegradable Drinking Straws" in the process of standard establishment and approval and release, so as to provide technical support for promoting plastic pollution control. In view of the major social and industrial needs of "biodegradable materials", the team carries out research work around starch-based degradable materials such as starch-based films, starch-based convenience bags, starch-based straws, starch-based foam materials, etc., and strives to solve the commonality, basic and key problems of the industry required for the deep processing of starch-based degradable materials, realize the incubation and industrialization of related innovative technologies, and strive to become a benchmark research team in the industry.

In addition, I continue to cultivate my forward-looking judgment, interdisciplinary understanding and organizational leadership in the implementation of major scientific and technological tasks at the provincial and ministerial levels, adhere to the long-term vision, continue to cultivate a team of young scientific and technological talents, and truly form a growth echelon of strategic scientists. As an administrative staff of the Food College, I am in an important position in cultivating talents in the food industry, and I must keep up with the pace of the Communist Party of China, continuously improve my talent training ability, cultivate more outstanding talents for the development of China's food industry, and contribute to the prosperity of the Chinese nation and the security of the country.
