The source is the Chinese round field snail or its whole animal of the family Marmotidae. Summer and autumn catches.
The original form of the snail shell is conical, about 5 to 7 cm high. The shell is slightly pointed, the spiral layer is 6 to 7 layers, the suture line is deep, the body snail layer is large; the shell mouth is oval, the edge is neat; the, ovoid, brown, with concentric ring-like growth patterns. The body is soft, the head is cylindrical, and the front end has a prominent snout; the front of the snout has a ventral surface, and its base has a pair of antennae, which can be slightly telescopic. The right antennae of the male are thicker and shorter than the left, and there is a genital hole opening at the apex, which becomes a splicer. There are eyes at the lateral bulge near the base of the antennae. The foot is located under the head, large, broad metatarsal surface, slightly truncated at the front end, rounded at the posterior end, and the central bulge on the back of the foot is cylindrical, connected to the head, cylindrical muscles and internal organs. The head and feet can be retracted into the shell, and after indentation, the three shells are closed.
It lives in lakes, rivers, swamps and paddy fields, and usually crawls on the bottom of the water or on aquatic plants with wide feet. It feeds on the leaves and algae of succulent aquatic plants. Dormant in the mud during cold periods.

The chemical composition of the edible part contains about 81 grams of water, 10.7 grams of protein, 1.2 grams of fat, 4 grams of carbohydrates, 3.3 grams of ash, and contains 1357 mg of calcium, 19 mg of phosphorus, 19.8 mg of iron, 0.05 mg of thiamine, 0.17 mg of riboflavin, 2.2 mg of niacin, and 130 IU of vitamin a.

Clinical application (1) for the treatment of renal ascites
Take 2 to 3 fresh field snails (shelled) and wash, mash with 3 teaspoons of table salt, spread on cellophane of about 9x9 cm, apply to the umbilicus, and cover the outside with gauze. Once a day, until the ascites disappears. After treatment of 4 patients, the abdominal circumference before treatment was 85 to 94 cm, urine test protein (++) ~ (+++), red blood cells (+), granular cast (+); after 5 to 7 days of treatment, the abdominal circumference was reduced to 68 to 86 cm, and urine protein, red blood cells, etc. were also reduced or negative. (2) Necrosis after radiation therapy for cervical cancer
Take a few edible snails, wash, remove the screw lid, and prostrate in the cleaning container for 1 night to get light green water, add ice flakes and mix into a thin paste.
