The opening ceremony of the 2021 North Bund International Shipping Forum was held today (November 4) morning at the World Lounge on the North Bund in Shanghai. President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the 2021 North Bund International Shipping Forum.
Vice Premier Liu He read the congratulatory letter via video. Li Qiang, Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, li Xiaopeng, Minister of Transport, attended the opening ceremony of the forum and delivered speeches, and Gong Zheng, Deputy Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, presided over the opening ceremony.
Li Qiang pointed out that President Xi Jinping's congratulatory letter fully reflects the great importance attached by the central government to the development of the shipping industry and international cooperation, and fully reflects the concern and support for the construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center. Shanghai will conscientiously study and implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping's congratulatory letter, grasp the new opportunities and challenges facing the shipping industry, deepen cooperation in international shipping affairs, promote the healthy development of the shipping industry, and strive to raise the construction of Shanghai international shipping center to a new level.
Li Qiang pointed out that the development of the shipping industry is related to the prosperity of the world economy, affects the pattern of international trade, and affects the well-being of the people of all countries. Shanghai, born from the sea and prosperous to the sea, is currently deeply implementing the spirit of President Xi Jinping's important instructions and accelerating its march to a world-class international shipping center. Make every effort to build an international shipping hub portal, focus on improving the integration of sea, land, air and rail as one of the collection and transportation system, promote the interconnection of port and shipping infrastructure in the Yangtze River Delta region, and create a world-class port group and airport cluster with reasonable division of labor, efficient collaboration, strong competition, and global radiation. Continue to improve the ability to allocate shipping resources, guide functional institutions and relevant element resources to accelerate the agglomeration, and take the lead in exploring shipping open policies and operation models. Lead the reform of the shipping industry with scientific and technological innovation, and vigorously develop smart shipping and green shipping. Deeply integrate into the international shipping governance system, and actively contribute to China's wisdom and Shanghai solutions. With the support and guidance of relevant ministries and commissions of the state, we will strive to build the North Bund International Shipping Forum into an important platform for exchange of views, important policy releases and important rules in the field of international shipping.
Li Xiaopeng pointed out that it is necessary to conscientiously study, comprehend and thoroughly implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping's keynote speech at the Second United Nations Global Conference on Sustainable Transport and the spirit of important instructions on the development of the shipping industry, adhere to openness and inclusiveness, innovation and change, win-win cooperation, and work with all countries and all sectors of society to continue to deepen exchanges and strengthen cooperation, further promote the healthy development of the international shipping industry, and contribute wisdom and strength to the development of global sustainable transportation. First, we must accelerate the construction of a transportation power and make every effort to promote the sustainable development of the shipping industry. Second, we must build a world-class shipping center and accelerate the construction of a shipping hub that radiates the world in the Yangtze River Delta region. Third, we must create a new situation in international shipping cooperation and better serve the high-quality development of the "Belt and Road".
