Speaking of women's rights figures in history, people are talking about Lü Yan, Wu Zetian, Empress Xiao, Xiao Zhuang, Cixi and others, who are praised and deprecated and said otherwise, but they are all powerful and ambitious figures. The highest-ranking and best-known of these was Wu Zetian, whose title has always been the only female emperor in Chinese history. However, long before Wu Zetian, there were actually two female emperors, one was Chen Shuozhen, a "demon" contemporary with Wu Zetian, and the other was a Northern Wei puppet emperor who was a hundred years earlier than them. Chen Shuozhen started a religious uprising and was quickly pacified. And this female emperor of the Northern Wei Dynasty was swaddled at the time, did not officially ascend the throne, was just a puppet emperor, and was deposed after a few days on the throne, so the reputation was naturally not as loud as Wu Zetian.
So who is this puppet female emperor?
One: The adulterous and murderous Empress Dowager Hu
The Northern Wei Dynasty was a regime established by the Xianbei Tuoba clan. Being able to eliminate the power of the various states and proudly establish the Central Plains in the chaotic world of the Northern and Southern Dynasties for nearly 150 years, the Northern Wei Dynasty was strong for its own important reasons, including the choice of successors. From the Daowu Emperor Tuoba Jue, the Ming Yuan Emperor Tuoba Si, the Taiwu Emperor Tuoba Tao to the Jingmu Emperor Tuoba Huang, the Xianwen Emperor Tuoba Hong, and the Xiaowen Emperor Yuanhong, they were all dragons among men, each with its own wisdom, and the Northern Wei Dynasty implemented a cruel policy in order to select excellent successors to the throne without making the foreign relatives stronger- the death of the son and the mother.
The policy of the death of zigui's mother had as early as the Western Han Dynasty, when Emperor Wu of Han was dying, the crown prince Liu Fuling was still young, in order to prevent Liu Fuling's biological mother Lady Hook Yi from becoming the second Lü Yan, Emperor Wu of Han killed Lady Hook Yi before dying. Northern Wei implemented this policy, and in the end the Northern Wei Dynasty rarely had a situation in which the harem interfered in politics and foreign relatives sat on the throne, and the only two empresses who were in the pro-dynasty system were Empress Feng and Empress Hu, the former of which together with Emperor Xiaowen Yuanhong pushed Northern Wei to strength, while the latter single-handedly pushed Northern Wei into the abyss.
Empress Dowager Hu's name is unknown, but because she was once given the title of Chong Hua (concubine) by Emperor Sejong Yuanke, she was often called Hu Chong Hua. Hu Chonghua was born into a famous family, and his aunt was a nun, who took the opportunity to enter the palace to preach to Yuan Ke to sell Hu Chonghua. After Hu Chonghua entered the palace, it was a different firework in the crowd. Until 515 AD, Yuan Ke fell ill and died, and the five-year-old crown prince Yuan Xue took the throne, and Hu Chonghua became Empress Dowager Hu and became the ruler of the dynasty.
During Empress Dowager Hu's reign, she connived at the corruption and bribery of hundreds of officials, built Buddhist temples on a large scale, increased heavy taxes and miscellaneous taxes, and changed the edict issued by the empress dowager to an edict (only the emperor could use it), calling herself "Yuan". For a time, there was great chaos and legal theory, and there was also the famous Yulin Army riot, which was a prelude to the Six Towns Uprising, showing the dissatisfaction of the Northern Wei army with the imperial court. Moreover, Empress Dowager Hu was absurd and promiscuous, colluding with Wang Yuanyi of Qinghe, Zhongshu Ling Zheng Yu, And Zhongshu Sheren Xu Qi, causing the imperial court to smoke and miasma, and the people and soldiers complained bitterly.
The Northern Wei Dynasty quickly went from prosperity to decline to the abyss of extinction.
Two: Mother and child turn against each other
As Yuan Xue grew up day by day, and with Empress Dowager Hu's wanton behavior and obscenity, the relationship between the two became more and more tense. Empress Dowager Hu was afraid that Yuan Xue would learn from Qin Shi Huang in anger and imprison herself, after Empress Hu had been imprisoned by Liu Teng and Yuan Cha once, and she did not want to lose these rights and male sex again.
So Empress Dowager Hu was wary of Yuan Xue at every turn. "Emperor Suzong (Yuan xue) is fortunate to be loved by the empress dowager", Yuan Xue has a Mi Duo Daoist around him, who can speak Hu, others can't understand, Empress Hu is afraid that he and Yuan Xue conspire and plot, so she sent someone to assassinate him in the street, and then killed Yuan Xue's cronies Gu Hui, Shao Da and others, "between mother and son, there are many suspicions."
In 528, in the face of the increasingly tense mother-son relationship, Zheng Yu and Xu Qi, fearing that they would harm their own bodies, secretly murdered Yuan Xue with Empress Dowager Hu, and the king of a country actually died at the hands of his own mother and his male favorite, at this time there were six town uprisings outside northern Wei, the princes were fighting, and empress Dowager Hu was adulterous and the emperor was poisoned, and he was already crumbling.
As early as a month before Yi Yuanxu was poisoned, it happened that the pet concubine Pan Chonghua gave birth to his only flesh and bones - this flesh and bones did not leave a name in history, but a woman, known as yuan girl in history. After Yuan Xue was killed, Empress Dowager Hu, in order to stabilize people's hearts, simply established the yuan girl who was only fifty days old as emperor, and the yuan girl was still in her infancy, which was completely a political tool, if she had not been born in the era of court turmoil, she might have been crowned as a princess, but fate made people confused, she could only be used as a political tool, passively becoming the first female emperor in Chinese history.
A few days after the Yuan girl was appointed, Empress Dowager Hu saw that the people's hearts were popular and the political situation was stable, so she issued an edict saying that this Yuan girl was actually a girl, and we had to set up another emperor, so we set up another yuan zhao who was the son of Yuan Baohui, the king of Lintao, and the nephew of Yuan Xuetang, who was only three years old, as emperor. Empress Dowager Hu's wave of operations has never been done before, "the world is stunned", in the era of male power, who could have imagined that someone would dare to set up a girl as emperor.
Only forty-five days after Yuan Zhao's reign, Empress Dowager Hu, Yuan Zhao, and Wenwu Hundred Officials were killed by Erzhu Rong.
Three: The chaotic world is adulterous and male Zhu Rong
In 524, the Six Towns Rebellion occurred in northern Wei, and ambitious people such as Liu Han Baling, Gao Huan, Ge Rong, and Du Luozhou rose up, and Northern Wei fell into the quagmire of an army uprising.
Erzhu Rong is a Karmic man, and his ancestors have been the Chieftain of Karma for generations. In the chaotic world, Erzhu Rong had an advantage over anyone else, because he had horses, he could quickly assemble an army, and after having an army, he began to suppress the rebellion of the six towns, rapidly expanded, recruited talents, and gathered a large number of capable people such as He Bayue, He Basheng, Gao Huan, and Hou Jing to become the hegemon of one side.
In 528, at the suggestion of Gao Huan, Erzhu Rong, who was swollen and ambitious, intended to "take advantage of the time to fight and please Zheng Yu, Xu Qi, and the Side of the Qing Emperor", just at this time, Yuan Xuefa, who was getting more and more stalemate with Empress Dowager Hu, summoned Erzhu Rong to Luoyang to rape, so Erzhu Rong ordered Gao Huan to lead a large army to Luoyang as a forward. When the army came to the party, it heard that Yuan Xue had been poisoned and that Empress Dowager Hu had made Yuan Zhao emperor, and Erzhu Rong naturally took advantage of the problem and refused to recognize the three-year-old emperor. Therefore, the above table resisted, and counted the sins of Empress Dowager Hu, one of which was "to raise the daughter of Pan Concubine to deceive the people, to come to the four seas as a child who has not spoken, and to make the sea safe, which the fools have not heard of." After that, Erzhu Rong consulted with Yuan Tianmu, the king of Shangdang, and decided to establish Yuan Ziyou, the son of YuanXun the Prince of Wuxuan, as emperor, as Emperor Xiaozhuang of Northern Wei.
Erzhu Rong's fortune was similar to Cao Cao's, and his entry into the capital was similar to Dong Zhuo's, and the threat was menacing, and Empress Dowager Hu was powerless to resist, so she had to go to Yongning Temple to become a nun in an attempt to escape the disaster. On April 13, 528, Erzhu Rong, following the advice of his subordinate Fei Mu, lured Empress Dowager Hu, Yuanzhao, Gaoyang Wang Yuanyong, Sikong Yuanqin, and the Minister of Culture and Martial Arts to Heyin (present-day Xingyang City) in the name of sacrificing heaven, "to blame the world for the mourning, the reason for the collapse of Emperor Ming (Yuan Xue), Yundu was caused by such corruption, and it was not caused by KuangBi", and then "the arsonists were killed, and the princes and secretaries of state were killed", and the Northern Wei hundred officials were wantonly slaughtered, and more than 2,000 people died, known in history as the "change of Heyin".
A coup d'état caused by Empress Dowager Hu ended with the slaughter of hundreds of officials, and the outcome was even more tragic than when Dong Zhuo entered the capital, and the entire Northern Wei courtiers were replaced by a group of people, and the Northern Wei emperor entered the puppet era of the powerful ministers, from Erzhu Rong (who was stabbed to death by Emperor Xiaozhuang) to Gao Huan and Yuwen Tai, all became the actual rulers of Northern Wei (later split into Eastern Wei and Western Wei), and the nominal Emperor Yuan was just a decoration.
The first female emperor in Chinese history, Yuan Girl, disappeared after being used as a political tool, and there is no relevant record of her in the history books, she may have been exiled to the people, may have died in the heyin change, and may have been killed by Gao Yang like many descendants of the Yuan clan, but it is conceivable that the ending is not good.
