VMware View 5将增加Profile,PCoIP和客户端的支持

VMware View的下一个版本5应该会在8月份的VMworld大会上发布，我们先来看看VMware View 5的一些新特性：

Profile Manager

Citrx很早就有的东西，VMware View中将包含Virtual Profiles的组件，但是该组件不支持从Windows XP到Windos 7 Profile的兼容，View的用户可能还是需要购买第三方的Profile管理工具。

Storage Managent

VMware View 5会提供一个类似Citrix IntelliCache技术的存储管理特性，以减少存储的巨大开支和性能问题，而Citrix在XenDesktop 5 SP1中已经提供了该功能。

PCoIP

很多人抱怨PCoIP对带宽的消耗巨大，特别是对公网用户的图像和视频应用来说，VMware针对此，在View 4.6发布的时候，增加了Frame Rate（帧率）和audio compression（音频压缩）选项，想要改善该问题。

Gartner一会分析师Chris Wolf说“VMware和Teradici在公网上和Citrix ICA/HDX竞争还有很多工作要做。”

For example, when users connect to their virtual desktop, the cursor is noticeably less responsive. "What you end up with is a cursor that appears to update its location 25% less often and acts choppy," said the integrator, who wished to remain anonymous. "If I connect via RDP, the mouse behaves normally with no slowness at all."

终端支持

Citrix可以支持基本所有的只能设备，而view在4.6版本增加了对ipad的支持以后，正在逐渐增加客户端的支持，但是想追上Citrix，还有很长的路要走。

VMware用户期望View 5的一些特性：

用户希望的本地磁盘的映射，GPU的虚拟化，更好的打印管理，USB外设的支持等Citrix基本都已经具备了，部分特性将很快可用，如GPU虚拟化等。

还有很多会需要类似XenDesktop和XenApp整合的功能，希望ThinApp与VMware View也能整合，但是现在还不明朗，因为VMware已经将Thinapp Provisioning整合到了第三方合作伙伴的产品中了。

针对view打印的兼容性，没有类似Citrix的解决方案，iew通过OEM ThinPrint来给用户提供打印支持，但是有些用户说OEM版本支持有问题。比如，很多用户使用USB连接打印机和ThinClient，而这需要商业版ThinPrint。

高端的2D和3D图形图像应用需要view支持GPU虚拟化，USB支持的限制也会影响用户使用体验。而Citrix可以使用HDX 3D来支持高端3D应用，并能够细化的控制USB设备。

综上所述，View离XenDesktop还是有一定的距离的。
