3PAR File Persona无法配置或提示 block-only 解决方法

HPE 3PAR一些中高端型号最新固件中已经集成了 File persona 功能也就是以后我们不需要再额外购买单独的NAS机头。

但是在配置的过程中发现居然找不到File persona这个功能。

新购设备为3Par 8400 包含所有license的机型。 

初始化完存储后登陆SMCC管理台根本找不到File persona 选项。

通过SSH工具连接使用命令startfs 出现以下提示

File Persona cannot be configured while the system is set to block-only mode. Please contact HPE Support for assistance."

These error messages occur because the 3PAR system Persona Profile setting is set to "block-only."

通过查询KB发现存储如果没有单独配置PCI槽位的网卡系统默认把File persona禁用也就是为什么我们无法配置File persona的原因。

而由于一些成本的考虑往往我们会把3PAR上自带的remote copy口用于NAS的数据口虽然官方是不推荐的。

如果要强制开启File persona 可才考以下命令

使用命令 "showsys" 查看配置如下

cli% showsys -param 

PersonaProfile : block-only

使用 "shownode" 查看控制器的配置如下

cli% shownode –PersonaProfile

Node, Config, Current

0, block-only, block-only

1, block-only, block-only

使用 "setsys" 更改配置为block-preferred如下

cli% setsys PersonaProfile block-preferred

HPE 3PAR File Persona Software - PersonaProfile Error, Cannot Configure File Persona

DESCRIPTION

Customers may call support to get assistance with configuring their Hewlett Packard Enterprise 3PAR File Persona Software through the CLI or SSMC because they encounter one of the following error messages:

• With 3.2.2 MU3: 

o "Cannot install File Persona. No memory reserved for File Persona. Please call HPE Support."

• With 3.2.2 MU4: 

o "File Persona cannot be configured while the system is set to block-only mode. Please contact HPE Support for assistance."

RESOLUTION

Support response instructions for specific 3.2.2 MU3 and 3.2.2 MU4 error messages:

Check if the array has one of the supported add-on NICs installed.

If supported NICs are installed, change the PersonaProfile setting to "block-preferred" per the PersonaProfile setting change procedure below and refer the customer to the File Persona Best Practices Guide and File Persona Support Matrix for deployment best practices and supported limits.

If NO supported NICs are installed, then check if the array has empty PCI slots available.

If available PCI slots exist, recommend the customer contact an HPE Sales Representative to discuss their file requirements and purchase a File Persona license and appropriate NICs. Communicate to the customer that the NIC installer would change the PersonaProfile to "block-preferred" as part of the NIC service delivery.

If available PCI slots DO NOT exist, File Persona is licensed, and the customer wants to use an on-board RCIP port for File Persona instead of add-on NICs, then caution the customer about the performance and availability constraints of the RCIP port. Encourage them to discuss their use case with their HPE Sales Representative, if they have not done this already, and ask them if they still want to proceed.

• If yes, then change the PersonaProfile setting to "block-preferred" per the procedure below, and point the customer to follow the File Persona Best Practices Guide and File Persona Support Matrix for deployment best practices and supported limits. 

• If no, then inform the customer that File Persona cannot be enabled and to contact their HPE Sales Representative to discuss alternative file serving solutions from HPE.

PersonaProfile setting change procedure: 

To change the PersonaProfile setting from block-only to block-preferred, use the "setsys PersonaProfile block-preferred" CLI command. The CLI options for setting and viewing the profile values are hidden.

View the configured profile using "showsys" 

a. cli% showsys -param

• PersonaProfile : block-only

View the Configured and Current setting using "shownode" 

a. cli% shownode –PersonaProfile

• Node, Config, Current

• 0, block-only, block-only

• 1, block-only, block-only

Set the "sysparm" profile value using "setsys" 1.cli% setsys 

a. PersonaProfile block-preferred

NOTE: 

• Setting or changing the profile across the cluster requires rebooting each node one at a time.

• If File Persona is enabled, then the profile cannot be set to "block-only."

• If the profile is set to "block-only," then "startfs" is not allowed until the profile is changed to "block-preferred," and all nodes are rebooted.

• Arrays that do not support File Persona always show up in the "block-only" profile, and the profile cannot be changed.
