The second wife, Zhang Huilan, although she did not go to prison with her husband like Xie Baozhen, her life at home was even more difficult than Xie Baozhen.
As mentioned in yesterday's article, Xie Baozhen gave birth to a total of 7 children for Yang Hucheng, one of whom died prematurely, two died in prison, and there were 4 children left, all of whom were entrusted to Zhang Huilan by her before Xie Baozhen decided to go to prison to take care of Yang Hucheng.

In 1949, when the news came that Yang Hucheng had been killed in prison, Zhang Huilan fell ill and did not eat or drink for several days. The pain of losing a son, the pain of losing a husband, no one can empathize with her!
After her body gradually recovered, Zhang Huilan personally ran to the outskirts of Xi'an to buy a cemetery. Because of the previous efforts to unblock the relationship, she has already scattered her family wealth, and even the money for the purchase of the cemetery is donated by people.
In the years since, although Zhang Huilan's life has been difficult, she has never neglected her children. Fortunately, Yang Hucheng was later posthumously recognized as a martyr, and in order to take care of the life of Zhang Huilan's family, the Xi'an government gave her some subsidies every month and arranged a job for her.
In 1993, Zhang Huilan died of illness at the age of 90. According to her last wishes, her ashes were buried next to General Yang Hucheng, at this time, 56 years had passed since the two were separated.
