India's Yamaha never stops amazing us. It has a history of introducing icons like the Yamaha RD350, Yamaha RX100, and then a long dormancy period. Then there's the Yamaha FZ series and the Yamaha R15, which have also proven to be idols. The company has been constantly upgrading its bikes since the launch of the R15 and FZ, but the company doesn't have any revolutionary products. Still, it's time to launch such a product that could be another game changer. Enter yamaha Aerox 155.

What sets the Aerox 155 apart is the scooter's unique design. It has a central spine with a fuel tank inside.

Yamaha Aerox 155: Design and functionality

The Aerox 155 is a pretty cool scooter. It comes with a lively front-end design. The front skirt mimics the fairing of a bicycle and is fitted with dual LED headlamps with DRL. Aerox's front and rear wheels feature 14-inch wheels, and the front wheels also have Abs. The Aerox 155 is equipped with a negative display LCD instrument panel. It offers speedo, odo, storytelling, and even fuel gauges. What you also get is a dual tachometer that looks cool too. Yamaha also offers the company's Y-Connect Bluetooth kit for an additional fee. But there is still no navigation to boast about.

The fuel tank is located on the central spine and can be operated via a multi-function key switch. There is a small checkered hole in the front apron to hold your phone. A 12V outlet is also provided for you to charge your phone. The storage compartment under the seat is large enough to hold a full helmet.

As you can see from the side, Aerox is very different from the traditional. Instead of the usual floor, the scooter has a central spine running. This section is also fitted with a 5.5-litre fuel tank, which can be opened via a switch provided in the ignition key console. There is also a small checkered hole on the front apron to store and charge your phone, thanks to the charging sockets available there. On the downside, some plastic fixtures, such as fuel fillings and small room covers, feel fragile. Due to the central spine, the legs must be swung over to install the scooter. The foot pedals are large and provide plenty of space. However, if you compare it to a traditional scooter, it will disappoint you.

The Yamaha Aerox 155 features 14-inch alloy wheels that look really cool. It also got abs in front. The dashboard is an all-digital unit. Although a Bluetooth connection is available, there is no navigation function. The engine comes from the R15, and the radiators are neatly tucked into the sides.

The Aerox 155 also offers spacious seats. Even better is the space it offers under the seat. A full-face international size helmet can be stored inside, which is a win for us. Aerox also offers 145 mm of ground clearance. Thanks to its dual suspension, the rear looks muscular and very much like a motorcycle. LED taillights complete the motion design.

Yamaha Aerox 155: Engine and transmission details

While everything you've seen so far makes Aerox unique, Aerox's party part is the engine that powers it. The 155cc liquid-cooled motor is also from the Yamaha R15. So it gets VVA technology, which definitely makes things exciting. It is also activated by displaying the notification "VVA" that pops up on the IP. The rated power output is 15bhp and the resulting torque is 13.9Nm. These numbers are now slightly lower than those on R15, but let's tell you that Aerox weighs 126 kilograms, which is also lower than R15. Aerox also has a fairly sensitive start/stop function that can be started quickly to improve fuel economy.

Yamaha Aerox 155: A new motorcycle

The Yamaha Aerox 155 is a fun scooter. It offers good handling and mimics motorcycles.

Yamaha Aerox 155: Ride and handle

Start the scooter, the motor is idle and unstable, unlike the scooter you use every day. Twist your wrist and the scooter will take off energetically. The throttle responds well and clearly, and the scooter tilts forward with minimal throttle input. This makes it much easier to overtake suddenly. But what's really interesting is when you feel like you're just cruising and glancing at speedo! Expect to see figures between 80 and 90 km/h, which is actually Aerox's cruising speed. The top speed is well over 115 km/h, making it one of the fastest scooters in the country. Best of all, on Aerox, you never feel a lack of power and performance.

Yamaha Aerox 155: A new motorcycle

The back-end design mimics the design on a motorcycle. The dual shock setting adds to it. The tail light is an LED unit.

When it comes to riding and handling, Aerox is great. The suspension is set up stiffly, so the ride quality is a bit stiff at low speeds. However, it wasn't as stiff as the Aprilas. The high-speed stability is epic, and even at 100 km or more, the scooter feels like a plant planted. It's a scooter where people don't want to slow down on the speed bumps, they just want to enjoy jumping! Around the corner, Aerox is also confident and popular. Then it was concluded that Aerox was for enthusiasts who were not allowed to ride motorcycles but did not want to miss out on the fun. Then buy Aerox for Rs 129,000.
