Ducati's new vintage rally car, the DesertX

The Enduro motorcycle, which is full of the Paris-Dakar rally style of the 1980s, is Ducati's recently released DesertX. Born in 2019, the DesertX project has a wild exterior design that includes a fuel tank, side guards, saddle and windshield, and the front of the car is a retro double round headlight that at first glance doesn't look much like a Ducati.

DesertX's body features a new steel tube braided frame and an aluminum lightweight rear fork with a vehicle mass of 202 kg. The front and rear of the vehicle are equipped with a long-stroke KYB suspension, the fork is inverted in diameter 46 mm, the stroke is 230 mm, the rear shock stroke is 220 mm, and the compression, rebound and preload of the front and rear shocks can be adjusted. DesertX's minimum ground clearance of 250 mm and seat height of 875 mm ensure traversal in the most demanding off-road conditions.

The DesertX's wheels measure 21 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear, making it the standard Enduro model configuration. The tires are equipped with a Pirelli Scorpion Pull STR pattern in sizes 90/90-21 and 150/70R18.

The braking system features a front dual Brembo M50 monocoque radial caliper with four 30 mm diameter pistons on each side and dual 320 mm floating brake discs on the front wheels. The rear wheel is a Brembo twin-piston floating caliper with a single 265 mm diameter brake disc.

In order to ensure that the DesertX is suitable for long-distance driving, the front is equipped with a fuel tank with a capacity of 21 liters, and the rear can also be equipped with a fuel tank, thereby adding 8 liters of spare fuel, which is more conducive to the weight balance of the body. DesertX is also available in the rear 3 cases, providing a load capacity of nearly 120 liters.

Powered by a 937 cc water-cooled Testastreta 11° Desmodromic valvetrain engine, desertX has a maximum power of 110 hp at 9250 rpm and a maximum torque of 92 Nm at 6500 rpm, matching a standard 6-speed gearbox.

The DesertX is equipped with a high-resolution 5-inch TFT meter that offers 6 ride modes and 4 power modes. Equipped with the Bosch IMU system, corner traction control and cornering ABS functions are realized. In addition, engine brake control and anti-warp function are also available.
