Recently, the Lian Yiqing Pastel Art Museum located in the Zhuwanwanzai Civic Art Center opened and ushered in the first event - "The First Lian Yiqing Cup Pastel Exhibition in 2021 and the 7th Zhuhai ShuTong Art Pastel Invitation Exhibition". There were 78 works by famous artists at home and abroad on display, with the thickness of oil paintings and the agility of watercolors, where citizens and tourists can enjoy the top works in the pastel art world.

The exhibition received 23 international pastel masters, 18 domestic pastel masters, and 150 domestic painters, and 37 of them were exhibited after screening by the organizers.

"In addition to exhibiting masterpieces by famous teachers at home and abroad, we also collected many excellent submissions, and in order to encourage artists who are new to pastel painting and ensure the standard of the exhibition, 37 fine pastel paintings were selected to participate in the exhibition." Zhang Xiaohui, president of the Xiangzhou District Pastel Painting Society in Zhuhai, said, "This practice focuses on guiding and motivating the majority of pastel artists to create more and better works, and promoting the integration of Chinese pastel painting with the world and the prosperity and development of it." ”

According to reports, pastel painting has a long history in Europe, and in the 17th century it has become an independent painting genre. Li Chaoshi (1893-1971), a pioneer of Chinese pastel painting, brought the art of pastel painting back to China after studying in France in 1911 and taught Lian Yiqing (1917-2002) the skills of pastel painting, and Lian Yiqing became his favorite student.
