Ding Sheng is known for daring to fight a hard battle and being able to make strange moves, and in the Battle of Hengbao in 49 years, he led his troops to attack the main force of Bai Chongxi Gui's clan, this battle was not carried out in accordance with the pre-arrangement of the chief of the four wilds, in the eyes of ordinary people, it was a lonely and in-depth adventurous way of playing, but Ding Sheng was able to win with less fighting and more surprise, which impressed the later generals. Siye has always valued military achievements and paid less attention to past qualifications, so Ding Sheng has obtained relatively more opportunities for development and promotion.
In the 1962 counterattack against India, Major General Ding Sheng, who had fully grown up militarily, was very brilliant in his role as a major commander and safeguarded national security and national dignity. According to this development trend, Ding Sheng should have had a very good future in the people's army, but why did he gradually disappear later?
According to common sense, in military careers, there are many famous generals who have made victories over foreign armies, and their status in the army is often very high. Although the scale and time of the operation against India cannot be compared with the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, after personally leading the army to fight the "Great Victory of Wa Nong" in 1962, Major General Ding Sheng's prestige in China also reached its peak in the 1960s and was regarded as a heroic figure. With his outstanding performance and excellent command ability in the revolutionary war for many years, in 1969 Ding Sheng became the first senior general in the history of our army to serve as the commander of the Grand Military Region with the rank of major general in 1955, served as the commander of the Guangzhou Military Region, and was transferred to the Nanjing Military Region a few years later. At that time, most of the other high-level cadres of the military region were 55 years old general, and it was obvious that The young and promising Ding Sheng was highly recognized by the Central Military Commission and the chairman.
However, although General Ding Sheng was good at the military, he paid little attention to political life and personal interactions, laying the groundwork for his gradual disappearance in the 1970s. During his tenure as commander of the Grand Military Region, Ding Sheng had some friction with Ye Shuai and General Xu Shiyou, and in 1971, the former chief of Siye and related senior generals made serious mistakes, which made it difficult to make Ding Sheng, who was born in Siye and held a high position, completely unconnected.
During the Liberation War, Ding Sheng was once the commander of General Huang Yongsheng's division, but Huang Yongsheng was expelled from the party in 1973 and later sentenced to prison. Before the accident of the relevant personnel of the former Four Fields, the chairman had already learned a lot of information, and out of his love for Ding Sheng, in August 1971, he had specifically mentioned Ding Sheng, asking him to pay attention to political exchanges and kinship relations, but unfortunately Ding Sheng, who was not sensitive enough in this regard, had never really paid attention to it.
In the special era, Ding Sheng was finally suspended from active duty in 1977 to be investigated by the organization because of careless contacts, and completely withdrew from the army in 1982. In his later years, Ding Sheng had been living in Guangzhou, and the organization took care of him to a certain extent, and his living standards remained at the level of a cadre at the division level, but he was never given the opportunity to participate in military and political life. General Ding Sheng died in Guangzhou in 1999 at the age of 86.
