On January 3, BYD released its latest sales figures, and by-one passenger cars sold 97,990 units in December last year. It surged 77.9% year-on-year. In terms of cumulative sales, the brand's total sales reached 730,093 units in 2021, up 75.4% year-on-year. Among them, sales of new energy models reached 593,745 units, up 231.6% year-on-year. This year, BYD will also launch at least 8 new models including Yuan PLUS, Song MAX DM-i, Han DM-i and Destroyer 05 to further boost sales.
In contrast, the combined annual sales of Weilai, Xiaopeng and Ideal are only 280,075 units, less than half of BYD's new energy passenger car sales. In terms of different models, the Han and Tang families continue to sell hot. The Han family sold 117,665 units for the full year, compared to 13,701 units in December, with a 20.6% increase in Han DM. The Tang family sold 54,204 vehicles in the whole year and 9,000 units in December, with the Tang DM soaring 150.9% year-on-year. As the pillar of brand sales, the Song family sold 200,870 vehicles in the whole year, and 22,386 units in December, with Song DM soaring 1650% year-on-year. The Qin family sold 19,422 vehicles in the whole year and 259,43 vehicles in December.
In addition, the Yuan family and dolphins also maintained a good sales performance, the Yuan family sold 41,402 vehicles in the whole year, and the sales volume in December was 8,577 units, up 707.6% year-on-year. Dolphins, which launched in August, sold 29,598 units for the year and 10,016 units in December, up 13.7% month-on-month, providing a strong guarantee for the brand's sales growth.
In terms of new cars, ATD dollar PLUS has opened pre-sale, the price is 132,800-15.28 million yuan. In the future, BYD will also launch a number of models, Dynasty Network, will launch the Yuan Song MAX DM-i (listed in the first quarter), the new Tang EV, Han DM-i and so on. In terms of Ocean Network, destroyer 05 (to be released in the first quarter at the earliest), SEAL (debut in the third quarter), Sea Lion (debut in the third quarter) and Seagull (to be unveiled in June as soon as possible) will be launched. The launch of more models will not only enhance the competitiveness of the brand, but also bring new increments to sales.
