2022 is the year of the competition, and China will host the Beijing Winter Olympics and the Hangzhou Asian Games. In this context, Chongqing will establish 2022 as the year of competitive sports reform and development, and hold various large-scale sports events around the goal of "building a competitive sports matching the status of municipalities directly under the central government".

It is understood that the 2022 World Weightlifting Championships will be held in Banan District, Chongqing. The World Weightlifting Championships are the highest-level and highest-level weightlifting events in the world. The 2023 Asian Cup football tournament will be held in China, and Chongqing, as one of the hosts of the tournament, has begun preparations in full swing.
