France shot, Google was fined 150 million euros, Facebook was fined 60 million euros?

Wang Ye said financial news: January 6 news, French regulators for Google and Facebook use of user information (known as cookies), that is, used to track user data online, and fined 210 million euros.

France's National Commission for Information Technology and Freedom (CNIL) imposed a record fine of 150 million euros on Google, surpassing the previous €100 million user profile-related fine imposed on the company in December 2020. Facebook was fined 60 million euros.

The committee said authorities had determined that facebook.com, google.fr and youtube.com websites did not allow users to refuse to use "cookies" and that "it was as simple as accepting them".

It also said Google and Facebook had three months to adjust their practices, after which France would impose a fine of 100,000 euros a day.

Google told AFP it would change its approach after the ruling.

"Cookies" are small packets of data set on a user's computer when they visit a website, allowing a web browser to save information about their session. For Google and Facebook, they are very valuable and are the main source of revenue for these platforms in the way of personalizing advertising.
