WTA500 Adelaide: Barty took Lebakina in two sets to win the singles title

On January 9, Beijing time, the WTA500 Adelaide station produced the first tour singles champion of the 2022 season. World No. 1 Barty won the first title of the new season by beating No. 7 seed Lebakina 6-3, 6-2. It was also the 14th Tour singles title of the Australian's career.

The two have a previous record of playing each other, which occurred at last year's Australian Open, when the world's first Barty won easily in two straight sets. In the first set, both of them saved their own serves in the first seven innings. In the eighth set, Barty worked hard at the end of the set, cashed in on his first break point opportunity, and went down 6-3 after saving his subsequent serve to win the set.

Entering the second set, the world's first continued to perform strongly, and twice completed the consecutive breaks in the early stage of the session, quickly established a 4-0 lead, and maintained the advantage until the end of the set, 6-2 to win the second set. It took only 64 minutes to win the first title of the new season.
