January 13 news, affected by extremely cold weather, some Tesla electric vehicle heat pump system in North America has serious failure, some Tesla owners have to endure cold problems in driving.

In fact, last year, Tesla Model 3 and Model Y had the problem of overheat pump failure, Tesla had issued a statement that it had solved the problem through OTA, but did not expect the incident to happen again.

Several Tesla owners said that after opening the heat pump system, the vehicle will issue an alarm, there is no heat in the car, if you do not know in advance, you may be trapped in a low temperature remote area, there is a certain safety hazard.

After the problem occurred, several owners drove the vehicle to the local Tesla service center for maintenance, and were subsequently told that Tesla had discovered the problem and was undergoing software repairs.

A car owner from Toronto, Canada (Jimmy Yeung) shared his experience:

After the car Model Y failed to function, the Tesla service center replaced the eight-way valve parts of the on-board air conditioning compressor and heat pump system for it, and according to the bill he presented, if the car is not under warranty, the owner needs to spend more than $4,000 (about 25,000 yuan) for it.

As for why the heat pump fails, Tesla service center staff said that the reason is very simple, it may be just because the condensed ice blocked the forward air port near the windshield, resulting in an error in the sensor of the heat pump system, so it is recommended to use the preheating function to thaw or manually remove the ice in the air intake.

Tesla CEO Musk has previously called the model 3 and model Y's heat pump system one of the best engineering examples he has seen during his time, but this does not seem to be the case now.

Of course, the failure of the heat pump does not affect normal driving, and as far as China is concerned, unless it is the northeast and inland areas, the probability of encountering extremely cold weather is relatively low, and domestic users should be able to relax their minds.
